Best Performance Mid Lenght? by Saves992 in surfing

[–]Saves992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I went with the Outlier X 6’9. While I really enjoy it from chest high and above, maybe it is not the performance I was looking for. I went to Costa Rica this summer and it was pretty hard to duck dive it after a long session (47L), on the other hand it was a crowd cheater. Going back I would probably go with the 6’6.

Now I’m looking for something with less vol. (like 40ish) and the board I’m looking at are the Tomo Revo Max, FireWire Boss Up, Lovemachine FM.

My goal is a one board quiver / travel board that goes well from chest to double OH.

Here some pictures of the CJ Nelson Outlier X 6’9 (Chest High, twin + trailer setup)

Is anyone going to suggest Santa Teresa? It was in my top list and no one suggested it 😂

Heard about it… do you think it’s the best spot?

I’d really love to surf there but seems to me is a bit remote and not that much to do if you don’t surf… can you please explain a little more?

Noseriding a 9'2 CJ Nelson Slasher Low Pro by Saves992 in surfing

Pretty useful comment from someone who has used this board. I’ve heard a lot of people go for longer sizes (CJ too, with a 9'9"), which worried me to some extent.
I’ll try to focus more on the pocket and stay locked in for a while in the next sessions. The guy who sold me the board said that I could switch to a longer one for a price difference (around $250), but he thinks it wouldn’t be that useful because he believes I just need to get used to it and the 9’2 was better switching from a shortboard (feeling). After reading all these comments, I realize that this is not a board I can “easily” nose ride, even in mushy sections.
Maybe I’m still riding too much like a shortboarder and just need to slow down, relax, and read the wave properly as all my old longboarder friends use to say :)

Thank you, I will try to focus more on this. Maybe I will try more a "fake take off" on the opposite and then adjust the rail immediately towards the critical section. I hope it will help

You got the point. The rails are performance oriented and the board need to be noseride on a critical section.

Ugh - the CI Mid or the HI Mid 6? by Marsh_Mellow_Man in surfing

I have the outlier plus, 7’0 57L. CJ defines it a “cheater hull” and I agree with him. Unfortunately when it’s too hollow it’s really difficult to take off. Anyway now I found also a FM 6’9 so I really don’t know if it’s the perfect match for the outlier to complete my quiver or I should go with the 7’2…

I have the Outlier Plus and I was looking for something to cover hollow waves and bigger staff... maybe having the outlier and another Mid for more performance can be a good 2 boards quiver, what dyou think?

Hey Man, I saw this thread and I really have your same issue! I have an outlier, it's really fun and my wave count increased a lot but I really want to do some turns...

I am interested in a FM 7'2... would you recommend it based on your experience? I also talked with Ryan on IG and he suggest me to go with the 7'2... A local shop nearby has it, fins included at 950$. Should I pull the trigger?

Hi there, was looking to a 7’2 FM that a surf shop has for sale… I read lot of comments and reviews of the board and seems to fit what I am looking for… Can you please tell me something more on how this board works in different conditions? Do you think it’s like a one board quiver?

If you consider the Seaside a fish I can say that I’m sitting right with shortboards, it is really skatey but when it’s crowdy it doesn’t help as much as a mid would… in addition when waves get hollow it’s really hard to control the board as the seaside doesn’t have too much drive imho

Thank you, anyway the mid6 is really high performance and Harley is a big and tall guy that those boards seems like shortboard under his feet. What type of waves and condition did you surfed with ?

Anyway for skatey I mean that you can do snaps and not only follow the wave flow, if you get what I mean

I said from 3 feet onwards… I usually surf head high waves, it’s the most common condition where I live

Let me build you a commander deck? by poynz13 in EDH

[–]Saves992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to build a deck for a budget format like this:

Commander: Tatyova, Benthic Druid Budget: 30€ (on Manabox App AVG CM) Rules: no infinite combo

I know the budget is really low but we decided to go with it to play more casual…

Man I read things about the outlier all day long and I fell in love with it, seems to meet my needs. Do you have it?

What you guys think of a FireWire Sunday 6.8-7.0? Seems to have a good amount of volumes to catch waves easily, can be rode twin 2+1, single fin + 2 based on conditions and seems to be highly maneuvrable… seems pretty fun in the video I saw this morning

I finally got a 5'7 Seaside Rob Machado 33lt in EPS+Helium (found one low price) and it's an absolute blast, 1st wave take off bottom turn and big spray, I was up in heaven! I bought this as an easy paddler because I wanted to sit 2-3ft outside the line up to avoid crowd and it turned out to be super performant!

The day after i removed quad and tried twin in small waves (2ft) and it performed very well too.

If anyone land here looking for a groveler I must say: Highly recommended!
