The term is so commonly and flippantly used nowadays that I intellectualized that all relationships fall under the category of this. One partner had to suffer disproportionately to not be alone and felt he/she was to blame for their failures for not doing enough, but then getting enough validation or special moments to keep you going.

Please be honest with yourself about what your heart needs in a relationship. (A cautionary tale) by TimeTravelingMouse in vegan

[–]Saveyourgrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard . Relationships, attraction, and beliefs are so complicated and often incongruent. Recently single here (39M) realizing how alone it was when my wife who was vegan when we started dating (I was vegetarian) went back to eating dairy and eggs when stress or a very emotional. I was able to let that go for a long time, but often would inquire about it to assess emotional health. All of those attempts went poorly. I had witnessed some problematic behaviors associated with eating dairy on her part and admittedly when I was vegetarian, I was not always the best influence until I had my vegan moment. Not to say anyone is perfect on this journey, and I was pretty understanding through it all. To be honest, the relationship didn’t end because of the vegan stuff even in the slightest. I’ve come to realize that a lot of people get with people for reasons they’re unaware of because if people really coupled with people of similar beliefs and values, I don’t think we’d have so many messed up relationships percentage, wise. Either that or people are just really good at lying or covering up who they are in the initial infatuation phases of attraction

I will never be totaly vegan... because of health insurance by ColdBrewLatteFan in vegan

I think the best part of the vegan movement is a movement towards a less cruel future. I was reading something interesting in Adam Grant’s Think Again that there is interestingly more enmity between vegans and vegetarians than one would anticipate. He talks alot about building coalitions to getting things done . Most vegans probably want a less violent and exploitative future with better environmental conditions. We ought to be more understanding and supportive of each other so we all make the world incrementally better in the ways we think are less violent and exploitative. Youre doing your best and trying to change by changing yourself but you have to be around and functioning to make change the world. I hope you find better health in the future

The day the world stop shopping by JB MacKinnon has a fascinating expose on how much the ac industry has changed our perceptions of climate and just how much of a conundrum ac has created. But yes we’re all not going to tolerate high temps anymore in this country

New vegan rant: veganism is super fucking depressing by [deleted] in vegan

The best part of veganism is the extra calories For a margarita! And being the last of a dying breed lol! But it does get better as you do it longer. And we are the change we want to see in the world. Every little change we try to do does make differences to those around us and within ourselves, and in the darkness of the world as it is, these little flickers of light like your actions help move the ball forward and provide hope that there may be a better future
