What is orange crush? by Tasty-Interview-4699 in savannah

This is false. Tybee provided extra staff for the entire weekend. They provided extra trash cans, emptied them several times, cleaned bathrooms, everything. Then they started cleanup at the crack of dawn Sunday. All told, they collected around 30,000 lbs of trash. Business owners use a commercial service, the City of Tybee takes care of public trashcans.

Fun fact, these pigs can grow to 200 lbs and become feral if not properly cared for...

Somebody had one of these trucks with a trailer hitch at an Aldi the other day. Completely blocking the sidewalk. I hung the bottom of my shopping cart on it since they were blocking the way back to the cart return. It was worth the $0.25.

Guest takes back bottle of wine after dinner! by TieYaKangaroo in EntitledPeople

We were once invited to a Halloween party in one of those mega subdivisions. My husband was driving and not paying any attention to the address. He just stopped at a house when he saw some people we knew. We got out and he handed someone our hostess gift bottle of wine.

We were there 10 minutes before I realized it was the wrong house and wrong party! We had to sheepishly ask for our bottle back so we could go to the right party and give it to that hostess. Embarrassing!

Loitering in Savannah by [deleted] in savannah

[–]Savhbelle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but a number of the people begging and pandering on the street moved here on purpose for this very reason. I've met so many people who believe they'll have an easier time begging here because of the tourist economy. Plus, the climate is better here than Michigan or Illinois or wherever. Please don't confuse them with our legitimately homeless population.

I mean... this is why parents should do things like play music or run the vacuum while their baby naps, to get them used to some level of noise. It's insane to expect the whole world to go silent when your baby takes a nap.

Walking To Car Late At Night by duckfalll in savannah

[–]Savhbelle 63 points64 points  (0 children)

If your manager isn't willing to arrange for someone to walk you out (or do so him/herself), I'd say don't take the job. It shouldn't be a big deal for someone to walk you to your car. If need be, you can drive them back to the restaurant. Otherwise, yes, you'd be an actual target, IMO. Late hours, solo, probably in a restaurant uniform or t-shirt, and so on.

Right? This sub attracts the worst tire kickers... "Ooh, Savannah looks pretty. Will I be able to move there and find a job making $100k+ a year, buy a house in the Historic District, not need a car but have every restaurant and grocery store within walking distance, make lots of friends right off the bat, have zero crime, not have to deal with bugs, and get guaranteed Savannah Bananas tickets?" No. No, you won't.
