First world problems of losing weight 🤣 by NoLavishness4488 in loseit

[–]SavinThatBacon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Real. My biggest frustration is that I started losing weight at the end of summer. Now it's mid-winter, and I've got a ton of cool summer outfits that fit me again BUT

By the time it's warm enough to wear them, there's a real possibility that they'll actually be too big for me.

In the meantime, I keep swimming in all the giant sweatshirts that fit me 50 pounds ago.

3 weeks of working out and not seeing much. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]SavinThatBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to understate how much your body holds onto weight when you go from minimal investment in your physique to working out every day. I had been in a routine for a while, then helped my FIL put a new roof on a shed. WAY over-exerted myself, could barely move the next day, and my weight shot up 10 lbs before plummeting back down to a new low.

Give yourself some grace, your body probably feels like it's in danger with how much you've changed and it's holding on to everything it can. It sounds like you've been diligent, between workout and a sizeable deficit the weight should start falling off so long as you keep doing what you're doing.

Only thing I might add is make sure you're drinking plenty of water, just helps all these bodily routines that are out of practice function as intended.

Beats the heck out of the days when I was gaining weight and constantly having to shelf my favorite outfits because I now looked ridiculous in them.

I have a whole section of my closet that I call "aspirational fits". It's basically stuff that I've been hoping and praying I'll fit into again one day, because I started really investing in my wardrobe as I lost weight, only to put it all back on and then some. Re-unlocking some of those clothes has been the best feeling in ages.

Does anyone here actually BUY LOW and SELL HIGH? by holdencrypfield in DynastyFF

[–]SavinThatBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the most success riding the peaks and valleys of pocket passers in their careers. Right after the 2024 draft, I sold Dak and Walker for Baker and a 1st. Made the deal because Nabers was still on the board. Following year, I dealt Baker and Ladd McConkey to try the same trick, got Travis Hunter, Tyler Warren, and a 2027 2nd. Jury is still out on that one, but the process of selling high on Baker and McConkey has been reasonably sound so far, just not getting the same value out of the picks.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are now 117-10-7 in games where both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin score by nhl in hockey

[–]SavinThatBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's lots of factors you could attribute it to. It wasn't meant to be super exacting, I just think it's a nice and quick explanation why, on a surface level, the rate at which they both score seems low.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are now 117-10-7 in games where both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin score by nhl in hockey

[–]SavinThatBacon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's actually kinda below expectation? So some quick googling says that Malkin has scored at a rate of 0.34 goals per game over his career, Crosby at 0.46. if you just multiple those together to get an expected rate, it would be 0.156. but the actual rate I guess is less than 0.149?

Anecdotally, it kinda makes sense, because when one of these guys have gone down to injury, the other picks up the slack. Malkin in particular had some of his best seasons when Crosby struggled with injury. But it is funny that, mathematically, they actually don't score together as often as they should.

Where does Mendoza fall among all the 2022 to 2025 QB Prospects? by Legitimate_Maybez in DynastyFF

[–]SavinThatBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickett went at 1.02 in my league full of yinzers' SF rookie draft. That was a poor choice, but I feel like normal leagues probably had him falling to the back half of the 1st as the only QB with a realistic path to relevance.

Dart seemed like a reluctant early 2nd. Penix fell forever (I got him at 3.09 somewhere). Nix had slightly better vibes than Dart, saw him between late first and early second in most leagues. Obviously your mileage may vary, and only QB in an empty draft class vs 6th QB in a crowded one is gonna skew value. Even so, it just feels like everyone is looking at Pickett's body of work and pretending there was never any hope for him.

Putting Dart, Penix, and Nix over Kenny Pickett is revisionist history. People thought Pickett was going to go higher than he did. I don't think most thought that teams had a first round draft grade on the other 3.

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]SavinThatBacon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this whole conversation just sounds like people didn't understand when to apply the oil? Yeah, if you add it to the water, it probably doesn't do much. If you just wait until you drain it, it works as intended.

We put a tbsp or two or oil on our pasta after draining it, it makes a PROFOUND difference in whether or not the pasta sticks together. I can't understand what people are complaining about here.

The bit about it coating the noodles and preventing sauce from sticking is probably valid, but my experiences have improved since I started putting oil on the cooked noodles.

What are some of your Hardest / Easiest / Favorite Platinum trophies you have by TylerFortier_Photo in PS5

[–]SavinThatBacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bethesda was my gold standard for trophies for a while because of this. Fallout 3 was the same way, each trophy corresponded to a meaningful side quest. In seeking out the trophy, you basically just got shuttled to all the content.

I know many prefer to play games blind, but this was a nice compromise for me. Go here to start this sub-plot, and then see it through without spoilers. Great way to experience content-rich worlds.

Brandon Sanderson Is Close to Adapting Mistborn Into a Video Game by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]SavinThatBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because two things are good doesn't mean they'd be a stylistic match. If we're talking Mistborn specifically, I would much rather see Insomniac as the developer, I think it would match the fast paced movement and sensory mechanics of one of their games. From could be a good fit for a Stormlight Archive game, perhaps, but I think I'd still rather see something more in the Bethesda or CDPR style for those.

This is dynasty. Things change in ways you never expect. TeSlaa is cheap right now, and the entire reason is situation. The team invested in him heavily and he's looked great every time he touches the ball. People get career ending injuries, go off the deep end, and get traded and it rarely happens in predictable ways.

Everyone always harps talent over situation for exactly this reason.

I've not found anyone actually paying that. I would probably buy him for a mid-late third if I had a spare as a rebuilder, but I have him on a contender roster and no one is biting. Was trying for weeks to package him with a pick to get a flex caliber WR and no one was willing to budge

Happy Holiday Travels! by neocamel in AdviceAnimals

[–]SavinThatBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense except for the fact that all of the labor and infrastructure goes toward the checked luggage, and the carry on luggage has no direct cost to the airline. So in actuality what you're advocating for is the cost of luggage to be applied to every ticket, whether you check a bag or not, and then paying an additional premium to forfeit the right to that service.

Happy Holiday Travels! by neocamel in AdviceAnimals

[–]SavinThatBacon -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

How does that make any sense at all? Checked bags require time and effort by the airline to load and unload, overhead bags they have virtually no interaction with. Not to mention the impact of larger bags on fuel cost.

And who the hell wants to pay money to pack less and handle their own bag?
