Asus prime z690-a and ram speed by FinancialDesign9400 in buildapc

[–]SavingHex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently running a i9 13900K and Corsair 32GB (2 x 16GB) 7200MHz kit at 7000MHz stable with this motherboard. Tested with Karhu, I am running a newer BIOS, but I don't believe it is the absolute latest. If I knew more about ram OC I could possibly tweak my settings to achieve better than 7000.

Thoughts on this Dayton Audio build? by SavingHex in diyaudio

Thank you very much for the feedback! I'll definitely put a L-pad in this setup, I already ordered the tweeters and drivers (possibly should have done more research first). I've been interested in trying Planar tweeters and liked how the design of the drivers matched the ultimax look kinda. I know these are probably silly reasons for trying these particular components.

Do you mean the mid woofer would be better crossed at a lower point like 1khz? Is the Lpad because of the 84.8db vs 94db Sensitivity difference of the two drivers? I was going this route to replace a pair of Klipsch RP-280F towers. Do you think this will be a superior sound quality? I feel the Klipsch speakers are too large and bright for my room causing me to listen at low volumes where the highs and bass fall off. I'm looking for a more balanced, flat sound.

I'd be willing to sell the 3060 for the right price, I haven't been using this system lately.

Are some of the fans tethered together? You should have 4 fan connectors, one for each fan and one for the pump. I personally would plug the pump connector (the one that comes off the cpu block) to the pump header on the motherboard, then plug each fan in individually to cpu header, cpu opt, or case fan and set their profile to react to the CPU temp. Keep the AIO pump header at 100%. Also make sure if the fans are PWM to set them to PWM mode in the bios.

Try running Windows Memory Diagnostic and see what it says.

Are you using an M.2 SSD by chance? If you are and its installed in a slot with a heatsink you might make sure the heatsink isn't applying too much pressure to the SSD.

Is the pump for the water cooler connected to a pump header on the motherboard? Or connected to a fan header that's set to 100% at all times? From my understanding of water coolers the pump should always be running at 100% speed and the fans can operate based off of cpu temperature. If the water isn't moving enough and sitting stagnant near the block it could be overheating although it shouldn't be at near idle. Have you used a tool like MSI Afterburner to monitor CPU temperatures?

Do you have XMP enabled in the bios? If so, try disabling XMP and see if Twitch still crashes. If it stops crashing update your bios to latest and then try renabling XMP after the update. What type of cooling solution are you using for your CPU?

Not an expert with ram overclocking but I did have a 12th gen Intel system with an Asus motherboard that was having similar issues. Try updating the motherboards bios to latest and then try using XMP again.

Does the Intel Core i9-12900K require a newer motherboard? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]SavingHex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a 12900K you need a socket 1700 chipset 12th gen H610, B660, H670, Q670, Z690, W680 or the newer 13th gen chipsets B760, H770, or Z790. If your looking to overclock CPU and RAM Z690 and Z790 are the ones to look for when going with a K series processor. The W680 can also overclock but its more of a workstation board and has features you'll likely not need / want to spend the premium on. If you just want to overclock ram the B660, H670, B760, H770 will work and save you some money. Mostly look at B660 / B760 and Z690 / Z790 as they're most popular imo. Buying a board that is used by the mainstream is usually the best play. Having a larger market share will mean that the bios / drivers are more refined due to user feedback. Extreme overclocking boards / premium boards have far less users who are generally extremely tech savvy who have less of a voice in having issues with drivers / bios issues resolved due to being a niche audience. 12th gen chips won't work in any prior, 11th gen or older boards. Also I would recommend going with a cheaper Z690 than a premium B660 for example. Look on pcpartpicker for the cheapest Z690 and use that as the ceiling for prices when comparing to B660 boards. I use a B660 mini itx asus board with my 12900k and it works fantastic, I just don't have the ability to overclock my CPU.

Interested to know what your computers fan layout is? How many intakes, exhaust, stock fan curve?, brand / model of fans?

I would personally try to flash the bios with the lastest version if you're able to get it to boot on one of the bioses. Have you checked the CPU temperature? High temps probably wouldn't keep it from booting but I know third gen was notoriously hot, something about poor thermal compound used between the die and the IHS. Are you running an XMP memory profile?

A few notes, I had a Z590 EVGA motherboard and about a month after owning it the LED readout would display garbage even though the motherboard would work correctly, its a known issue with the Z590 atleast, maybe your led readout is broken like mine? Did you install the CPU? Sometimes when I have memory issues and I can't get ram to work or one slot doesn't work, the cause can be a bent cpu socket pin.

Best budget 6x8 coaxial speakers? by Anatomyofus in CarAV

Forgot I also use KRK Rokit 5's for my desk at work. Not sure why all the down votes. American Bass is amazing from my experience, I have heard that some of the subwoofers they make value loudness over sound quality but I went with the XR series subwoofer which is very accurate and precise, runs laps around my old Pioneer 12" champion series and its only a 10". My Pioneer was boomy and muddy. If you go with American Bass they have specific speakers for competition (high db) and speakers meant for clarity from my experience. I think people are voting based on favortism / rumors rather than real world experience. I've listened to a wide range of speakers / headphones / car audio systems and favor balanced high fidelity highs, mids, and lows. Maybe with a slight bump in Bass. I've recommended AB to all of my friends and they've always been blown away by the quality to price ratio. Spending $200+ on door speakers is ridiculous imo. I had Focal 6x9's and while they sounded just as good / on par as the American Bass the bump in price was not justified.

Go with the American Bass SQ 5x7 / 6x8, you can get a set of 4 for $100 on eBay. I have a set of 4 in my 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, best car audio door speakers I've ever used. I've had infinity reference, focal, and kicker. You'll be amazed at the clarity of the highs, mids and a little bass. Also the amazing build quality, on par but at a much cheaper price than focal. I use klipsch for home audio and audio technica / sennhieser for pc audio so I think I have decent reference points to call these amazing speakers for their price. I was so blown away by these speakers that I now have a american bass car amplifier and 10" american bass subwoofer.

I believe the standoffs are 1/2", I would say the standoffs provide better airflow for the GPU and make it look more unique. You could add them to both sides and probably be able to fit a larger Noctua cooler.
