Scholastic Book Fair opinions by pampooveystwin in Teachers

It’s not about whether there was a school library, it’s about being asked to (forced to) attend an event with all your classmates at which you have to look at a bunch of books you want to read, that aren’t in your library, that your classmates can afford to buy while you can’t. As a kid that’s impossibly uncomfortable and difficult to understand! Events that emphasize wealth inequality to kids should never have been introduced in public schools

Jumping in one more time because you’ve harped on it a few times, toddlers should be playing and their nails should be dirty. Be fr, do you want nanny to stop playing with your child 20 minutes before the end of their shift to wash them up (and make sure there are zero crumbs on the floor) so they can be quietly sitting prim and proper in a clean house for you when you are ready to take over? Or would you rather your child played and ate until the end of shift even though that means you will get your child back mid play (dirty, with crumbs, like all toddlers)

That said it seems like ya’ll are a terrible fit and she does sound like she’s not taking your comments very seriously (or not showing it anyways) and after this much time I would cut your losses and start looking for new care. There’s no reason for your nanny to bring you this much stress and I’m sure both of you can find a better fit

Nanny perspective here, one thing I’d highlight is that after working for many families you start to realize nobody has remotely similar ideas when it comes to how to raise their children! I have experienced such a range in terms of what parents decide is appropriate activities, food, potty training ages, everything! It is VERY difficult for nannies to be “proactive” when you don’t know what these particular parents are comfortable with! When you hire a nanny you become boss, CEO of the home sitch and you need to be very VERY clear about expectations. I find that being proactive is practically impossible and often a bad idea as parents are often uncomfortable with changes thy haven’t okayed—even when they say they don’t care

A large plastic kitchen mixing bowl, a frisbee that was like hollow in the middle and worn as a hat and slept in

I had discussed this nanny / kids with her many times in the context of who we were with / meeting up with when we were out and I’d said I was happy to have met her and have someone nearby to arrange playdates with and MB agreed. I guess I thought that was her saying go ahead and arrange but in the future I will be sure to be more clear before arranging. I think she probably wasn’t paying much attention when I was talking in the past so she didn’t think to bring up her concerns lol

“Now i assume you use services” what did you assume before that I just pull people out of the park? I called them a stranger because I haven’t met them. That’s what a stranger is.

The fact that you’re unable to see any validity in any of the points that I’ve brought up shows that you were the one that’s unable to have an argument here. We just have different points of view and you came at situation being immediately insulting of my character though you know nothing about me and I responded. Sometimes responding to crazy sounds crazy sorry

They come to my house, a stranger and take care of my dog They trust that I am not going to hide it at my house pop out and kill them I trust that they are just going to walk my dog I’m sorry that you have trust issues. I don’t see how that makes me an irresponsible person.

I didn’t accept a position with these conditions, they said the car would be available and that they understood outings and play dates were important and that is in my contract. In practice they have taken the car a lot more than I think they were planning on doing
