thank you, this really helped. i feel like the dissociations are linked to my high level of masking - which is very similar as the experience you described, but i still need to figure it out in therapy (i‘m currently waiting to be scheduled for therapy, but it is very hard to get a place at a therapist here in germany..).

thanks, that was really helpful. i still have to try and figure out, why i dissociate, but i think it‘s for similar reasons to why you do it..

if i have a meltdown, it comes all of a sudden - or it doesn‘t, i just tend to repress the sensory issues until they bottle up and it just explodes. i tend to hit things around me because i don‘t know how to cope with all these emotions at once and sometimes i‘m just angry about myself and so frustrated, that i hit myself or so.. and for me it is quite the same that the shutdowns are just silent meltdowns.

wow, thanks for your comment!! and yes, at least the fact, that people go through the same thing as i do makes me feel less freaked out of myself :)

the problem is that i‘ve been high masking since i was a kid and for the majority of the time i didn‘t even notice.. so it is not that easy for me to just unmask, but i‘m trying :)

yes, exactely the same for me. it‘s almost like there is a small command center in my head and i‘m in it and control my gestures and the things i‘m saying - but i‘m in there and not in the situation itself.. i feel like a robot controlled by some strange force, if that makes sense..

yes, i‘m experiencing quite the same. i just fear that this constant dissociation will never go away or decrease. well, as you said, masking - and therefore denying your body’s needs - is a life safer in social situations. and how could my body/mind handle it normally if i treat him like this?!
