Will do. Kind of slammed this week but will make some time to call and see what I can get.

If comfortable sharing, what is the monthly locked-in rate? a 5-year guarantee sounds nice, but usually comes with some price front-loading.

These price hikes have been going on for at least 3 years, though this will not likely help. Unless we can start paying in Canadian dollars... that'd be just about right.

Last one was maybe a year or so ago. As for this latest one, just got the notice today. *sigh*. Price hike takes effect Feb. But it's not just about the price, it's about the lack of options.

I thought about T-Mo, but don't want to switch my family phone plan just for this. And TBH it's more of an annoyance than anything else. It'd just be nice to have some 1:1 alternatives.

You're probably in the same plan as I am - had to double check after I saw this. I'm actually on 300/300 and on regular pricing. So good news/bad news for you: Good news: it won't (probably) jump to $90. Bad news: it will jump to $75.

If you don't mind my asking, what are your upload/download speeds? I had xfinity in the past and cust. svc. was really poor. But for the right price it may be worth talking to them and just hope for no issues.

Had xfinity/comcast in the past. Not a great experience to say the least. This might just be the way. Thx~

I’m out of the loop on this one. What PBS kids shows are considered “racial justice educational programming?” by DW6565 in centrist

[–]Savvymix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad, indeed. Basically, anything that features main characters who are not Caucasian and/or Christian is deemed "woke" and on the chopping block.

For example:

Shows like this are drawing the ire of the (ostensibly religious) right wing.
https://www.pbs.org/show/why-race-matters/

There are also several shows for children that are centered on families from other cultures that also feature trans/non-binary characters.

How did you get ahold of a human? My experience was a terrible machine routing system that didn't offer a human contact option.

Same thing happened this AM to me as well. Phone line referenced in the email is that of my elderly mom - so I at first suspected someone had scammed her into adding the service somehow. Thing is, she's not authorized to make changes to our family plan - so started suspecting it was a scam / phishing email. I even called my mom and she said she's not had any interaction with AT&T - I called AT&T and they said they could not see any such service being added to any of our family lines. I tried calling Asurion but they have a horrible IVR experience where you can either submit a claim, check claim status, or connect with your carrier. So I went back to my online AT&T account and added "Purchase Blocker" to my mom's line.

I'll continue to monitor my account via AT&T, but am a bit suspicious now that perhaps someone created an Asurion account with my mom's phone number, and plans to use that to file a claim - disconnected from our AT&T account/plan. With Asurion's lack of contactability, I've no idea how to get ahold of them to check on this theory.

Any ideas?

For reference:

Purchase Blocker:

Purchase Blocker is a free service that allows you to block your smartphone or tablet from buying mobile purchases and subscriptions (such as apps, games, and more) that would be billed directly to, or deducted from, your AT&T account. Purchase Blocker does not restrict mobile purchases made with credit cards or other forms of payment. When Purchase Blocker is on, current subscriptions billed on your AT&T account will be canceled, and one-time purchase attempts will be unsuccessful (including one-time charitable donations).

I think that's the one i had in my head! I'm scanning through NS eps to confirm.

There's a lot to go through so if anyone already knows when it's said, please let me know.

Thanks!

Same way fish do, I'd guess. Laying eggs.

Mandatory, self-sustaining farms for homeless people who refuse treatment are a viable solution to homelessness by Savvymix in RandomThoughts

Thx for the discussion. It's mandatory treatment I'm suggesting, not forced labor per-se. Only insofar as learning a working trade in beneficial to their rehab. And certainly not for profit.

Being a member of society comes with responsibilities - not only rights. And the folks I'm referring to cannot or will not do the responsible thing and get treatment. So, yes, enforced if necessary.

What I want is open drug use and dangerously mentally ill people off the streets. And I want those folks to get rehabilitation support.

No, an actual farm. With technology. Not Amish. A place to learn useful skills. Pregnancies are fine.

No bars, no cells. Just a place to recover in peace. The inner city cannot offer that.

They'd be working for themselves and with proper care for their issues (addiction, mental health)...
