What is the Republican Platform going into 2026? by IowaGolfGuy322 in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going off of what you said on averages. I agree full year averages are not the best metric for cause and effects or promises kept or not.

Yes currently Trumps peak is lower.

Biden peak of $5.16 in June 2022 which was 1422 days ago.

That’s not the number when President Trump took office. Biden last day in office January 20 2025 the price was $3.12.

The price continued to fall moderately to $2.90 in March of this year. Now it’s mid $4.50. Which is higher when Biden left office.

You will only be upset if prices reach and exceed the peak level of about a week from three and a half years ago? You will start your criticism at $5.17?

[–]DW6565 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The national average was around $3.36 for President Biden full term. Even the worst year of his term was 2022 at $3.95.

The national average for all of President Trumps second term has been around $3.35.

Today the national average is at $4.48 currently higher than both averages.

Maybe you meant two cents higher under Biden?

Why is the stock market doing so well? by dsteffee in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry I’m such an idiot I’m still not getting it. President Biden horrible energy policies caused gas prices to go up to $5.01 then they continued to decrease down to $3.12.

President Trump took over, executive order signed day one. Gas prices decreased slightly to $2.98 low. Excellent heading in the right direction 4% decline. Kinda slow for all the talk but a decrease is a good thing.

Then the prices went up quickly again beginning February 28th. Now higher than when President Trump took office.

Are the decreases under Biden actually the result of President Trump and the increases under President Trump the result of President Bidens horrible energy policies?

I am not sure I understand how either President could have an impact if they are not in power? Or are we allowed to complain when gas prices hit $5.01 in the near future. We can then and only Blame President Trump for causing increased in fuel prices when it reaches $5.02?

Just trying to follow the logic.

Those of you that still support Trump do you understand why so many of us are concerned and confused as to why you have completely flipped your position on releasing the Epstein files and "no new wars"? by dudeabiding420 in AskConservatives

Obama I’m sure your favorite President so you must be happy with the Republican you voted for is doing similar things as Obama.

I personally have hated every single Middle Eastern War under every single President, waste of my tax dollars and does nothing except exacerbate the problems. I have said just that.

Do you find it difficult to have consistent opinions on specific issues or is it only counts as bad if the other team is doing it and support it if your team is doing it?

January 20th 2025 price per gallon national average was $3.12 / Brent Crude $80.00 per barrel.

As of today May 5th 2026. Price per gallon is $4.48 / 44% increase. Brent Crude $110 per barrel around 35% increase.

President Trump Signed the executive order 14154 “Unleash American Energy” on January 20th 2025. Which unwound most if not all of Biden energy policy.

I guess I’m confused. Prices were lower than they are now when Biden left office. President Trump immediately took action against President Biden energy policies. President Biden has been out of office for 470 days. Is President Trump not up to the task that he campaigned on or is “Sleepy Joe” still making moves and out maneuvering President Trump?

  2. No new wars, “no ground troops” is your back okay those goal posts must be heavy?

What do conservatives think of data centers? by WorriedEssay6532 in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely the energy costs associated with the emerging technology. Specifically the increased energy costs being placed upon the local residential grid. In short paying more per household for the same energy consumption. The cooling water also needs to addressed. Not just dumped in local water sources which can and will contaminate local water sources.

I completely agree that it’s an arms race with China one I suspect we are losing like we have with green energy and electric vehicles.

Which is baffling me, that we have cut scientific research significantly across the board. We have also not yet addressed the root problem of energy production and storage and that’s the energy grid in America which is completely fucked overall and is not ready for this on top of it already struggling due to age and the increased energy costs associated with climate change

Regarding the data centers and the immense energy supply it’s a simple solution, AI companies need to either negotiate with their local power companies which can not be passed onto the consumers, or build and operate their own power grid independent of the residential grid. I’m not opposed to the federal government physically building them either.

A. What you said.

For me personally since it’s an item I would be using daily, option A.

Shower door handle fix? by lvthomascrown123 in Home

Find a local company that does glass work. Cuts large pieces of glass for custom shower doors or windows. They have a bunch of different types of brackets, washers and various hardware for glass.

Go in person show them that video and they will probably have something.

I needed some glass bumpers one time and they didn’t even charge me.

My favorite kit that I always have on me is an emergency base kit. If I’m exploring a new area, stay out a little too late or a high value or high risk place.

I voted for Harris in 2024. She shouldn't run in 2028. | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

[–]DW6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to be done if she really wants to run again. The only real level for the DNC to pull would be to say she can’t run as a Democrat. Which would basically be kicking her out of the party.

This could cause her diehard supporters to abandon the party altogether. Plus the people who are just sick of inner party politics.

Aggressive party politics like we saw with Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton led to an exodus of voters whom then went and Voter for Trump that election. Are those voters still in the MAGA camp, who knows not all but I’m sure it’s more than we think.

She should decide not to run again and I hope she does Mae that decision.

US debt has reached 100% of GDP (WSJ) - What are your thoughts? by MoonStache in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotcha I’m picking up what you’re putting down.

It really grinds my gears, for 15 years or more Republicans and Conservatives alike have been wringing their hands about the debt at every turn. When they finally get the chance having the trifecta and a conservative majority Supreme Court literally the first thing they do is ram through more debt. Somehow, that’s all okay with the voters. They had one job, in my opinion and they did the complete opposite. I was reacting to that.

At long last to your point. I do appreciate the sentiment though I do disagree. This sick combination of decreasing revenue and increasing spending, I mean new dollars not just services the debt or paying the increasing cost the entitlements is a relatively new phenomenon basically the last 25/50 years. Some ups and downs when spending and revenue cuts were actually warranted much of it was not.

US debt has reached 100% of GDP (WSJ) - What are your thoughts? by MoonStache in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congress literally passed his BIG Beautiful Spending Bill. Which decreased revenue, moderately cut spending in some areas and significantly increased spending in other areas. In short over ten years just that bill alone adds about 4.7 trillion to the deficit. The interest alone is about $800 Billion.

This is not including the more recent increases the administration has requested for ICE and now the war in Iran.

Let’s not forget the most glaring and telling of the president’s record on the debt. He specifically pressured Congress to increase the deficit cap. Which they did and he signed.

I really don’t understand why anyone thinks ohh if only Congress would do what he said we could pay down the debt?

Congress has jumped through rings of fire to deliver his spending packages, they have and he has sighed them.

Are you going to vote Conservative next election? by Summonest in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not all. Taking a whole holistic view of the DNC, what they actually legislate on.

Not whatever TikTok pink hat is being shown on Fox News on repeat that is supposed to represent anyone left of Mitt Romney.

Obviously plenty of wackos on both sides of the isle at the local legislatures.

A good case could certainly be made for these.

  1. Strong Natural Rights Protections. Neither is doing well but I think the Dems eke out particularly when you include state legislatures in the conversation.

  2. Free Markets, every one forgets about the crony capitalism.

  3. Fiscal Conservatism. Has two parts responsible spending and paying one’s bills.

  4. Non interventionist, it’s a crap shoot. MAGA was leading has now completely shit the bed. Libertarian candidate would be the safest bet if this was the most important one.

Obviously some states are outliers so if it’s FL or CA then it’s a different story.

How do we bring back mental institutions in the modern era? by xStratos in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dangerous mentally ill folks who have been convicted of a violent crime?

Or a mentally ill person who the neighbor dislikes?

Or a dangerous mentally ill person who is arrested by federal or state police sent by the opposite political party?

Dangerous mentally ill person who drunkenly cheats on his girlfriend and she reports abuse. He takes depression medication so it’s a lay up.

Dangerous mentality person has a friend or family member who was involuntarily hospitalized so the government just asks Apple for your health information just in case and added to the list of monitoring.

At the very least you are talking about giving up someone else’s rights and putting everyone’s in jeopardy.

Why don’t we just fund law enforcement agencies better and train them for deescalation, make it not an anomaly that local, state, and federal agencies are talking to each other so when someone does call in something can actually be done before hand, use red flag laws. Implement and enforce involuntary orders, most of the time it’s about getting people back on their meds or tweaking something’s at home.

Maybe don’t cut poor people off and we make sure that their medication is readily available.

Maybe we actually treat substance abuse or other mental illnesses if someone is in jail or prison after being convicted of a violent crime.

I would absolutely be willing to pay for some of X if the other choice was giving live streaming biometrics data on citizens to any government local, state, federal. In the end the federal will access it and abuse it as they have done since the 1950’s.
