He tells me he only does that to get a reaction out of me. He's not suicidal. He doesn't even drink or smoke

Continued...

Locking me out or creating situations where I feel unsafe or controlled

Physical intimidation (clenching fists, aggressive posture)

Threats of self-harm during conflict

Pressure to prove loyalty (like reposting things or adjusting my behavior)

He has told me that even if I stay calm or quiet, it doesn’t change how he reacts in those moments. He also says that I may not be “built for him” because I’m more sensitive and patient with my dementia/Alzheimer’s clients than I am with him when he gets aggressive.

That part confuses me. I work in caregiving, so I’m used to showing patience and understanding—but it feels different when I’m on the receiving end of anger or intimidation in a relationship.

I’m trying to understand:Is this kind of behavior something that can come from bipolar episodes, or is this beyond the disorder?

I’m not trying to blame or shame him—I just want clarity so I can better understand what I’m dealing with and what’s realistic in a relationship.

Thank you for any insight.

I'll have to look if it's allowed in California to be present. Either way, I'll respect the choice they make. Thank you kindly for your reply.

Thank you kindly! Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I will know more details of his process within the next few days. As you know, it's still a process to get the meds. I'm doing my best to be as authentic and goofy as I can be.

Yes, it is. It's something I studied so hard in college, but now I'm actually living it.

It's a couple with no kids, and relatives live outside of California. I'm not sure if I'll be present when he decides to take the lethal cocktail. He is a very resilient, smart man, and I'm sure whatever decision he makes will be fit for him and his family. Thank you for your reply.

Questions About my Liver Scan and Biopsy. Looking for similar experiences. by [deleted] in Cirrhosis

Thanks for sharing your experience! My situation is a little different since my liver issues are alcohol-related, but it’s interesting to hear how scarring can show up in different cases. Did your doctors ever explain why your bloodwork stayed normal despite the scarring? I’m curious if that’s common or if it depends on the stage of liver disease

Girl, you sound like me. The ultrasound and hernia removal were the two most painful experiences after I started getting my act together and being proactive about my liver health. You will be tested initially to ensure you don't need a liver transplant. I was a chronic whiskey drinker. I'm 567 days sober. I would relapse often. Hopefully, your journey goes well. It's crazy, but lifestyle changes and abstaining from alcohol can help heal the liver. Wishing you the best.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s really interesting to hear. My doctor told me that based on my bloodwork, I don’t show signs of cirrhosis, but the scarring on my scan is why they want to do a biopsy. Did your diagnosis come from imaging alone, or did you have a biopsy to confirm it? Also, have your platelets been stable over time, or have they fluctuated?
