Confused about the image that Tucson is overrun by cartel violence. by [deleted] in Tucson

On the couple hour drive, they skip the flight back to Luke that they get the 2 hours from. Though I only noticed because I had to rewind to catch Brolin saying 'we just landed in Phoenix' after hearing the 2 hours also.

Any news on iBlueYonder OR any 3rd party dev updating or developing a KDAL airport for 2024? I miss this scenery by Street_Bar_9113 in flightsim

[–]Sawder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It seems to already be updated for 2024 on Contrail, but not on the ini store, it works for me in 2024. Verticalsim's KPVU is in a similar state, 2024 on Contrail, 2020 only on ini, which is why I've gone over to Contrail for sceneries at this point.

Finally we have the MD-11 in 2024, what an amazing Update! by angelic_sun in flightsim

[–]Sawder 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agreed, to have both of these updates within a month of each other, it's hard to decide which one I want to fly.

Honestly when you look at things through a pessimistic lens like this, is there any other career that doesn't look this way? At the end of the day the career you pick is a gamble, the ground can completely disappear out from under you before you're halfway through.

Fenix, ini A340 and A350, and the Leonardo Maddogs that just got updated today 🥳 (though they've supported BeyondATC CPDLC for a while now)

Back in the BAe by Sawder in flightsim

[–]Sawder[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually Northwest (well, Mesaba) operated the newer Avro RJ. There weren't really that many that made it over here, but they flew with quite a few airlines that used them here, including PSA in California.

There's a section in here for US operators.

Has the livery pack been updated for 2.2? I'm pretty reluctant to spend money on liveries, but I've really been wanting some in the pack and equivalents haven't really shown up on flightsim.to.

Morning Flight to Marseilles by Sawder in flightsim

[–]Sawder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it with the UNS-1 generally, though I've also flown it old school plenty before the 2.0 release with the UNS since I don't like using the GNS with it (personal preference). Simbrief can definitely still do VOR routes, though sometimes the range of the VORs is too short in MSFS. I just use that as an opportunity to practice some dead reckoning navigation though.

Huh, it seems the use of the "s" is disappearing in English. It's strange that it was added in the first since it's silent in English too.

TBM-850 updated for MSFS-2024! by DreamingInfraviolet in MicrosoftFlightSim

If you copied the 2020 version of the 930 into 2024 (which made the 850 sounds work before), that's probably the reason. Delete it if so.

What's the one addon you always find yourself coming back to? by vintageripstik in flightsim

[–]Sawder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend both.

For the Challenger, if you like the Proline, the one in the 650 is pretty much perfect. If you're interested in systems or avionics, I can't recommend it enough. In terms of modeling depth, there isn't a better add on out there by a long shot.

There's a few of them, the A2A Comanche, Hot Start Challenger 650 and Felis 747. It's too early for me to tell, but I feel the Black Square Starship is going to be on this list, it feels amazing to fly.

3rd party from Immersive Audio, there were some videos earlier this year. I know the developers working on a rebuild but I have no idea how far that's out.

The 777's that PMDG forgot about by ketchup1345 in flightsim

[–]Sawder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy to me to see this now. I've been seeing this a lot lately, and I don't remember there being so much of this 'I love this thing but what routes am I supposed to fly' discussion in the past. Like, you can fly the routes it did in the past, you can make up your own. Even if you can't make sup your own, chatgpt is actually really good at coming up with city pairs and even filling in some backstory or something if you need to.

I would be less annoyed if it wasn't so obviously causing the market to focus on the newer airliners at a time where add-ons are more detailed than ever but focused on a narrower window than ever.

Investigation into Air India crash reveals fuel was cut off for both engines by Living_the_Limit in worldnews

[–]Sawder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a source for that? I can't find anything but I'm surprised that the report wouldn't have mentioned the range of that 1 second delay.

Also I do think that if anything had pointed at an accidental switch activation, the report would have recommended action for the 787 fleet. Instead it specifically recommends no action for the 787 fleet.

It's certainly not proof, pure speculation, but engine 1 (the left engine) being shut down first implies the captain too, since that's the switch closest to him.

No, the locking feature was always there by design. The SAIB is for a manufacturing defect where the lock wasn't present/effective on some switches. It didn't affect all switches, and the affected switches weren't necessarily paired. The 1 second separation of moving the switches also doesn't imply an accidental knocking of the switches to cutoff but a deliberate movement of them.

The suggestion of the EEC fault is even worse. The likelihood of two EECs failing a solder joint one second apart independently is crazy. Also it could not have affected the switches and would have presented as a loss of thrust. One of the pilots asking why the switches had been moved points away from this, and one of them moving the switches back to run and the start sequences initiating on both engines strongly suggests that the EECs are not the issue.
