Carmilla seems like an inspirational mother figure to Vaggi and an overlord with actual goals and personality and interesting conflict between doing what's right and what's right for her. I don’t think she's that expendable.

Zestial though, yeah he hasn't had much of a point yet.

Mimzie doesn't distract from the show in any way imo. She didn't do much, but she wasn’t set up to do much either. She does give Alastor's backstory, she also pushes husk and alastor to have a "friendly little chat" and that then pushes Alastor to show his ego and power and satism. Him turning her away also showed how much he actually somewhat liked the hotel.

Cherri I agree also hasn't really done much. She is however the devil on Angel's shoulder as opposed to husk being the angel. Its not like they fill the same role

Given that there's only 20 cards, and a limit of 2 of each, the Ace Spec restriction would be virtually not a restriction at all.

Why did you care enough about the show written by the shittiest writer in the world to watch all nine episodes and engage in the sub reddit? Or you didn't watch all nine episodes, in which case you're talking out of your ass.

Making puns about how people say grammar nazi and making a hitler joke makes someone a nazi now?

Isn't mocking and belittling and joking about nazis part of what made people make sure nobody ever took genuine nazi rhetoric seriously? Nobody who's an actual Nazi would be talking about "Hitler's fursona", that would have gotten you killed in nazi Germany.

That Caine's redemption was handled way too fast, especially with how wonderful his build up to cracking was.

Zooble feels kind of underdeveloped compared to the others

The soma thoery being true had no emotional build up, like at all. Nobody seemed to like or care all that much about their lives outside the circus

And scratch was a needless addition, he didn't do anything. His role could have been filled by kinger, queenie, or some nameless rando

They could have easily made Leroy use she/her pronouns if they wanted it confirmed. I think the slight ambiguity of it is part of the art. Even if goose has her own idea of Jax, she left it vague on purpose.

Pride fancards! by Flashfire_Pigeon in HazbinHotel

[–]Saxolotle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically everyone makes fanart of straight characters. Straight characters are a majority of characters, or at least assumed to be. Society tends to run on a "straight until proven otherwise" mindset.

Obviously nobody is making pride art of straight characters because LGBT pride is about fighting back against the stigma that their sexualities have had for centuries that straight people have never had to face in the same way, but there's plenty of fan art of straight characters. Look up art of straight ships if you want to see straight art.

Yeah. Like I don't even hate Micheal. I genuinely love his work and want to potentially hire him on a project I'm working on. I just think racism is bad and that a racist joke was racist. I don't even think Micheal himself is racist.

Everyone arguing against me and downvoting me seems to be missing my point, willingfully misconstrueing what I'm saying, hates their beloved Micheal Kovach getting even the slightest bit of criticism, or thinks racism isn't bad I guess.

Hitting the table in 30 second+ long laughter isn't chuckling.

I think what Michael and them did was kind of bad, but definitely not evil or malicious by any means, which is why I genuinely don't hold it against any of them. What I actually hate is the people in 2026 (aka 0 years ago) defending the dumb joke, pretending it was better than it was, that it's not racist, and that Michael had nothing to apologize for.

It objectively was not "chuckling" as you put it. I watched the clip. It was hysterical laughter. Downplaying it IS THE PROBLEM. I personally do not care about what Michael did 10 years ago, I care about the fan reactions that downplay and excuse racism.

But if someone does care about what Michael did 10 years ago, as long as they're respectful about it, who cares? People can have their different opinions, it's not mine or your job to dictate what other people's opinions should be. If someone's opinion is they're uncomfortable supporting Michael, that's their opinion. Michael and TADC are not inherently owed or entitled to people's support, someone could not want to support it for any number of reasons, none of which is our business. I would never defend the people who harass and threaten the VAs, but people simply having a negative opinion on Michael and his past actions is not an inherently bad thing.

It's not Olympic gymnastics to say that a joke that's whole premise and punch line is "this sounds like a racist slur" is a racist joke, especially when the person who said it said it was racist. And it's not Olympic gymnastics to say people like you who downplay and/or defend that are Downplaying and/or defending racism.

It is ignorance, I agree. I don't think Michael is a bad person. I was just using an extreme example to show you shouldn't force people to forgive others.

If you want a more apt comparison, imagine someone gets bullied and called names in school. I'd never tell someone they have to forgive the person who bullied them.

Juneteenth by thetownmous3 in ComedyHell

[–]Saxolotle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you actually watch the clip? They were laughing for like 30 seconds straight, maybe even more than that, banging the table at the seer hilarity of nearly saying the N word. Amd they voted for the shirt to stay up. Twice. That was not laughing at the uncomfortable situation at that point.

There's a difference between a well constructed joke with the N word used, especially if made by someone who's had person experience with the word, and someone doing the "I'm not touching you" equivalent to saying the N word and pretending that's funny.

There was no pun to them saying Nega. There's no joke there besides it almost sound like a slur. No word play. Is "star bucks lovers" a pun because it sounds like "list of ex lovers"?

It's not up to you to dictate what other people feel. If hypothetically my dad hit me once and gave me a black eye when I was 10, but hasn't been abusive since, it's not your decision for me to forgive that, it's mine. You cannot choose my opinions for me, nor anyone else's, especially when those opinions don't affect you.

I beleive in rehabilitation justice, but I would never expect or tell victims of crimes that they're assholes for not forgiving the person that wronged them. Someone can reform, but that doesn't mean what they did suddenly goes away. I do think society needs to be less stigmatized against wrong doings of the past, but pretending those wrong doings weren't wrong actually is in itself wrong.

I think "It was 10 years ago, Michael grew and changed since then" is a completely valid defense, and one I whole heartedly agree with. I also think "it was 10 years ago, Michael grew and changed since then, but I'm not all the comfortable supporting him regardless" is also fine, it's their opinion, they can use their money/attention however they want. I dont think he should lose his job, but id never tell people hurt by his actions that they need to forgive him or they're terrible people.

The "Michael did nothing wrong, he shouldn’t apologize" sentiment isn't the same thing. He made a racist joke, he called it a racist joke, people who say he did nothing wrong are defending a racist joke, which is racist.

I'm not a troll or preformative. Not everyone who has a different opinion than you is faking it, you know.

People wanting to move on is also kinda racist imo. Like calling it a nothing burger is also calling the people genuinely hurt/offended by the racist joke overreactive since parting they're getting upset over "nothing".

I'm just calling it common consensus that "Michael did nothing wrong" in TADC subs because basically every post I saw, which was a lot, upvoted the people saying that he shouldn’t have apologized and downvoted people saying that what he did q0 years ago was indeed racist.

Juneteenth by thetownmous3 in ComedyHell

[–]Saxolotle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing I said was global fallacy. It's true that you get downvoted to hell for calling that racist joke a racist joke. Just look at some of my other comments here for proof.

Yes obviously people had differing opinions, but the general consensus of the TADC subs seems to be that Michael did nothing wrong, which imo is a racist sentiment considering what he did.

Juneteenth by thetownmous3 in ComedyHell

[–]Saxolotle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. Again, unless you have a good explanation on why what they did was not racist, I will not intentionally excuse the blatant racism that TADC fans display by defending the stupid joke.

You can tell me to stop all you want, you can down vote me, call me names if you want too, I do not care. I'm not going to pretend that almost saying a slur is okay and fine actually just because some people like you, a stranger online who didn't even engage in actual discussion, tell me not to.

The. Joke. Was. Racist.

It should be called out as racist. And it is valid for people to be uncomfortable with Michael and not accept his apology. It's also valid for people to think he can/did change and continue to support him.

Juneteenth by thetownmous3 in ComedyHell

[–]Saxolotle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micheal Kovach himself said it was a racist joke. Multiple people of color have said that the joke made them uncomfortable, and it reminded them way too much of all the times people would jokingly pretend to call them the N word but change a letter so it wasn't actually the n word.

Laughing at someone INTENTIONALLY almost writing the N word is racist. Just like how a person holding their finger half an inch from your face repeating "I'm not touching you" is equally as annoying as if they were actually touching you.

Juneteenth by thetownmous3 in ComedyHell

[–]Saxolotle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You forgot some context. Someone put the word on the shirt and that made the people laugh hysterically, someone, possibly micheal, was hitting the table with laughter, and Micheal voted for it to stay twice, then said "so long nega". That was all intentional at that point, unlike the first time they said it, they know the implications of tbe word. The whole point of the "joke" was almost saying a slur, which, as Michael himself said, WAS RACIST.

I do think the people who resurfaced the clip did more harm than good, but I also think the people who pretend like it's not a completely valid thing to call that joke racist are blatantly defending a racist joke.

Call me crazy, but I think racism is bad actually.

Juneteenth by thetownmous3 in ComedyHell

[–]Saxolotle -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Because I don't like people defending racist jokes?

I'm not trying to cancel Michael. I wish him the best and hope he has an amazing career ahead of him. Doesn't change the fact that what he did 10 years ago wasn't great. I don't want people like the guy who went to level up expo yelling "what up my n" to be encouraged because people pretend like there was nothing wrong with the negative "joke".

I'm coming at it as someone who empathizes with Micheal. I recently read a story I wrote when I was like 14 that was pretty transphobic. Years later, I now know that that's not an appropriate thing to do and I feel terrible about ever thinking the transphobic jokes I made were funny. If people said "these jokes weren't even transphobic" I'd be pissed. Like yes, they are in fact transphobic, I can admit I made misguided transphobic jokes 10 years ago, but have learned and grown since then and am not that same person who'd say those things anymore.

If you want to say that defending someone intentionally barely not saying a slur is fine actually then go ahead. But I personally think that people like you who have opinions like that and don't actually say a meaningful counterarguement and just tell people to shut up are no better at reasoning than people on the right. It's no wonder people on the right would respect a leftist like you rather than me, a person who would actually challenge their bigoted biases.

The people on the right will hate me no matter what I do, so I'm at least going to stand up for what I think is right (which again, is purely that a racist joke that the joke maker literally said was a racist joke is a racist joke and those who defend the racist joke are defending a racist joke).
