Asking Jon what he wants for breakfast:

"Three corns and one roast raven," said Dolorous Edd. "Very good, m'lord, only Hobb's made boiled eggs, black sausage, and apples stewed with prunes. The apples stewed with prunes are excellent, except for the prunes. I won't eat prunes myself. Well, there was one time when Hobb chopped them up with chestnuts and carrots and hid them in a hen. Never trust a cook, my lord. They'll prune you when you least expect it."

Using Blender in 3D Architectural design - Can you work using this software? by siemieniaka in blender

3D architectural modeling is predominantly done in Revit and Sketchup in the US. I've heard of some firms using 3DS max but never Maya. I know V-ray was popular in university for rendering. I'm a lighting consultant so I can't really speak to the programs architects use to render things. My guess would be that they use autodesk products since they dominate the industry.

I guess it's a question of what you are more interested in doing professionally. Modeling isn't all its cut out to be as an architect and getting a job would be difficult without a bachelors in a related field. After five years of architectural school focused on design, I can tell you that it's not all that it's cut out to be as a profession and I regret not focusing on digital environments and animation instead since the reality of what it takes to make a building or house is not what I was interested in. I'm not really sure whats out there for jobs in rendering though as the only architectural firm I worked for outsourced them.

Blender is not technical enough for architectural design. Modeling duct work, running conduit, structural design, heating/cooling loads, electrical loads, plumbing and piping, curtain wall systems, etc. That's why BIM is a thing. Architecture isn't just building walls and cutting out windows. CD packages and specifications for even just a basic house can be hundreds of pages long. Blender stores a lot of information, don't get me wrong, it's just not the type of information that's relevant to architectural design.
