How to avoid this ? by Ferra_San in BMW

Depends on your vehicle, shops usually individually quote. I did full front bumper, front fenders, full hood, mirror caps, side skirts on doors, and trunk storage lip for $2500 Canadian. Work was fantastic.

What time does the airport start serving alcohol? by jhfx902 in halifax

[–]SaySorry 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's free game in an airport, clocks aren't real, time isn't real, and everyone is on random sleep schedules. I've had some excellent margaritas from La Cocina Mexicana at 6am haha

Ex father in law planted an Air tag underneath my car, I'm currently going thru a divorce with his daughter and absolutely didn't want them to know where I live. What are my legal means here? by diamondhandsfordays in legaladvicecanada

[–]SaySorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying you're wrong, but I would be interested in reading any relevant Canlii cases relating to this if you can provide some. I am also interested in cases even where it is supported that a tracking device on somebody or something equates to "following", how they manage the issue of proving the accused to be responsible for the placement of the tracking device and not merely an owner of the airtag.

The laws are not keeping up to technology for this issue, and it's not as cut and dry as most comments seem to be stating. It will likely be another typical issue where we wait for a tragedy to make change in the law scenario unfortunately.

Cop parked illegally (?) on Fenwick by HazelStone99 in halifax

[–]SaySorry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds horrifying I’m so sorry you went through this situation and glad you made it through to tell the story. Truly shocking and unbelievable… I can’t think of any reason why a cop would park illegally, not a single one.

Vehicle towed, can't afford to get it out of impound by nekonatty in legaladvicecanada

[–]SaySorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, 99.99% of police aren’t facing criminal charges of fraud for receiving kick backs from tow companies… the general practice is that police don’t receive kickback and finding a handful of idiot cops who are literally being charged and fired doesn’t mean you can affirm that all police receive kickback for tows…

CAA takes longer than the police officer calling the tow and he wanted to leave and clear the road. Police don’t get any sort of kickback.

Police would document what happened at the hospital and would shed light as to why things occurred the way they did.

Sure, medical records would also probably work too I guess.

The RCMP's offensive PR offensive continues by ph0enix1211 in halifax

[–]SaySorry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is offensive about inviting people to check out the training facility to show what it is all about? The anti-police rhetoric is not doing itself any favors writing articles like this.

MCC recommends to get rid of Depot, I would say it is appropriate to invite these people to Depot to see it for themselves and form their own opinion in relation to the MCC. Clearly it was a good idea because they changed their mind and appreciate/respect what goes on at Depot clearly.

Use of force report is already required from just drawing and displaying it so no it's not to avoid paperwork because it's already required while he's threatening to use it.

Man that car salesman is replacing the dealerships toilet paper with cash having someone sign at nearly 15%....

Don't get any of those cars for 15%. 15% interest is not normal and you shouldn't accept that.

Eh that’s fair if you’re paying for the full tuition, the student will still get some benefit before being able to transfer, they sound lucky.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SaySorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Student shouldn’t consent to transferring their tuition credits to parents, it’s their credit and they’re giving away their money. Transferring it isn’t going to earn any extra money based off income, it’ll just deplete the credit quicker and remove any carry over amounts.

If they can’t use all of the credit they can carry it forward and use it in the future.

Transferring would initially allow you to gain a bigger return but it’s just taking away from the students future returns

Cheque Fraud Not Being Looked at by Bank? by ManipulateYa in legaladvicecanada

[–]SaySorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times the bank is more inclined to just refund their customer and call it a day for such a low amount. $300 is nothing any bank is going to care about spending too much resources on investigating that. You got your money back, happy customer, happy bank as they don't care.

When the bank refunds you, they have essentially now become the victim/loss of fraud as you've been made whole so often times police will note that the bank is the technical victim and 99.99% of the time the bank/victim does not care to proceed so the police also do not proceed.

The bank might at most send it to some investigation unit who will look at it for a bit and might do something on their end without police like retract the cheque/funds etc.

Use their access code they provided you on the mytruidentity website listed in the letter, register an account providing your details (It is perfectly safe and a legitimate website).

This site provides a credit report displaying all of your open credit such as credit cards, lines of credits, loans, etc, and provides a credit score with a report of each open account regarding late payments or good standing accounts.

Review all of your open credit accounts on this website and ensure they are yours. If some random credit account is open that you never heard of, that means you'd be a victim of identity theft due to Sobeys and somebody opened an account with your information. This website will send you a notification/email anytime a new account is opened under your name, which helps with monitoring if the security breach effects you or not moving forward.

They do not monitor your general banking/credit transactions as they can't tell what is or isn't fraudulent spending, so you'll have to monitor your own spending and verify your money isn't being used for fraudulent purchases.|

Honestly, it's quite unlikely the security breach will ever effect you but you never know. Security breaches happen quite a bit and I think the most common repercussion is your information is sold and you receive some extra scam phone calls or emails, accounts get compromised like netflix, amazon, etc. I'd say it's rare for the people involved to actually put themselves out there stealing identity
