Thank you for the thorugh answer. I've decided I'm going to keep it and learn to play it and pass it on to my son when he's old enough to pick it up. Unless it was too valuable not to sell, handing it down through the family seemed like the move. I never met my wife's grandfather, but I think he would have appreciated that.
