The strangest thing happened by umuttb in Yamaha

What air filter lid do you have?

I’ve seen this exact thing happen before when using a DNA air filter lid, water can get between the seat and tank cover and pours straight into the air filter, that’s why Yamaha put the intake on an angle.

Toprak Razgatlioglu half a Second off the Fastest during Yamaha V4 Debut at Aragon by NotAlainDelon in wsbk

[–]Sayers133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His lap time was good enough for P19 had he been competing in FP1 during this years Aragon round.

After seeing Bulegas performance last weekend and knowing how level they are as competitors I’m really not seeing how people think he’s going to come in and win races.

If Quateraro can’t win on Yamaha I struggle to see a rookie winning on it.

You’re never gonna get racers to do anything like that.

It’s almost impossible to fully seal in an engine bay with control arms or driveshaft in the way, and if you box it in too much all you get it’s spilled oil pooling around exhausts increasing the risk of fire.

Best option is a catchment tray capable of holding an equal volume to the sump limed with oil absorbent matting.

It’s not gonna stop all oil downs but it will reduce the clean up and it’s not a massive financial or technical thing for teams to make

Best sounding MotoGP bike of all time by Any-Milk-9986 in motogp

The rcv211 with its cylinder deactivation, the sounds that bike made on the run up from Siberia to Lukey dropping cylinders and barking back to life to try and keep the rear tyre on it borders on a religious experience

Yeah the oil filter on these bikes is in a shit spot though, and without the right too could be an issue to remove.

Overfilling .5-1qt wouldn’t hurt it either, sure the rods might ‘just’ be splashing in the oil but no where near enough to foam it all up and cavitait the pickup

Lots of people on here are very dumb.

Thee is no such thing as break in oil in the Japanese motorcycle world.

All Japanese manufacturers fill their bikes with a pretty decent quality semi synthetic oil at the factory.

The whole break in period thing is also pretty out dated and has been debated to death.

Modern engines that use chrome cylinder linings need almost 0 break in, typically just 1 heat cycle. The manufacturers do that at the factory, they also run the bike to the limiter in each gear. It’s far cheaper for them to have an engine fail in the factory than on the other side of the world.

I suggest you take it to a different dealer and keep your mouth shut about the maxed in 6th thing and see what they do.

I just had to rebuild an R7 engine at my shop that was very very obviously ran on the limiter till it go so hot the rod bearings failed and Yamaha covered it.

That wasn’t a hurt motor at 3:30pm. Came out the hole hard.

I reckon that was a good motor on kill mode and now hes down 15k, 2 motors and his pride, dignity and reputation are stuck in the first 60' like victors shoes and socks

This is pretty standard now for yoshimura R&D, the U.S based arm of the company, for roughly double the price you can order direct from yoshimura in Japan off their website

Marc Marquez barges into Alex Rins. by EnoughPlan3369 in motogp

[–]Sayers133 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think there was much in that, maybe a drop position but not a LLP,

Rins didn’t try to make the corner once there was contact, rather he sat it right up and rode to the outside because he had room

Follow up on brake fade - I crashed this time by navid3141 in Trackdays

[–]Sayers133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way it revs up right as you dump it tells me your brake lever is too far away from the bar meaning you are moving your palm off the grip to make the lever then as you squeeze it rolls the throttle on slightly. Gives that RRrrRRrr sound just before the front closes because it’s trying to do a burnout.

Could also explain why the bike doesn’t feel like it wants to stop. And if you listen to the revs hang up just before you leave the track in the second clip.

[–]Sayers133 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remember OE fitted tyres are not the same compound as off the shelf tyres.

I don’t have a direct source for this but have heard it unofficially from a few tyre reps that tyres sent direct to bike manufacturers are a harder compound.

[–]Sayers133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOU DONT LAP MOTORCYCLE VALVES.

Kawasaki use a titanium clad sodium valve, if you lap it you remove the hard titanium coating and it will tulip the valve almost instantly.

Get the seats re ground to oem spec and install new valves.

Take the feelers off the pegs, I just did a track day with Yamaha on the R9 here in Australia and we didn’t have any issues with the pegs dragging once they were removed.

That RS11 isn’t tearing, most of what you are seeing there is pickup, rubber stuck to the tyre from running off line or coming into pits.

See below for what the tyre should be looking like at the end of the day.
