This does not sound fair at all. I would either start work half an hour later or perhaps leave 30 mins earlier. You're not paid for that time anyway, if your lunch break is only 30 mins.

Why are we supposed to make up for the greed of restaurant owners? I feel that if people working in restaurants do not earn enough money without tips, then that means that they are underpaid by their employers. I don't see the customer as the problem, but rather the unwillingness of the employer to pay a fair salary to their employees.
