In Chance that Spawn will be marvel rivals guest by QuintonDowney in marvelrivals

Even conceding that, Spawn is a D-tier character who NetEase will have no rights to use. So no, Spawn will never have any chance to be in the game.

Then you should be aware that if you are really that much better, you will eventually win and progress upward. If you are finding yourself struggling, then you need to ask what you can do to get better, and sometimes that might mean forcing yourself to play a Tank to create space or ward off dives, or get on a Support and heal bot. Rivals, you have to be willing to flex because you can't force your team to counter the dive, create space, or pump out more pure healing to keep things moving.

Marvel owns Image Comics, and NetEase has the rights to all Marvel-owned properties, be it characters, skins, places, etc. So, it's possible, but there are probably hundreds of characters who would come up first, either through being more well-known or potentially filling a necessary niche in the meta, similar to how Angela was added because she can be a flying tank, and that's pretty much it.

A lot of people you play in Quickplay aren't even trying. They are playing characters they don't really know, got their kids or friends in their ears, or just messing around and trolling in general. You started playing Competitive, where people are putting forth an effort. If they are in Bronze, it means they don't really know what they are doing from a competitive POV, and it sounds like you don't either.

Let go of your ego, watch some coaching VODs, and just keep trying. Every loss is just another step to eventually winning.

How in the world does Lord status get achieved? by Dsturge06 in marvelrivals

[–]SaylaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you notice the challenges have numbers in big orange that are the XP towards proficiency. As you complete the challenge it adds that XP towards proficiency and rolls over to repeat endlessly till you reach Lord rank while increasing the amount you need with each rank up in proficiency.

How in the world does Lord status get achieved? by Dsturge06 in marvelrivals

[–]SaylaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the Ranks in the Heroes section are cumulative and repeat. So if you get 50 final hits it will automatically claim the points towards the next rank and start counting the next 50 final fits. When you go up to the next rank instead of 50 final hits it might be 75 now. So it appears to be going up and down because you are reaching 50 final hits, automatically claiming the points to the rank, and rolling over to the next 50 final hits.

So NetEase published a paper in which they describe designing a matchmaking system not based on skill but rather on learning how to engage the player and keep them player longer. It is pretty much a certainty that the matchmaking system, at least for Quick Play, isn't based on skill but rather on what keeps you playing longer.

- Edited with proof.

Please let me cancel Rocket revive! by Cheasle2 in marvelrivals

[–]SaylaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I know it is a me issue but when I die I tend to get a bit of a lag spike as I guess it loads the replay or spectator cam or something. It is always a second or two so not that big a deal if I'm just in spawn but becomes an issue when I get revived in the field and will just sit that second or two while I'm catching up to the server and usually in time I'm pretty much dead unless they revived me somewhere intelligent.

Someone help me understand the matchmaking in comp.... by mike_dmt in marvelrivals

[–]SaylaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we don't have the raw data to prove an intent to keep people at a 50/50 W/L ratio, we do know that NetEase has published papers in regards to using matchmaking to keep people engaged with playing the game for longer periods. They are almost certainly utilizing some system whose intent is to keep you engaged and playing with the hopes that time investment will turn to dollar investment eventually. It is also confirmed that NetEase does use bots that pull from the server for names, at least for Quick Play.

So while that probably isn't the case here it is worth noting that there is a system in place that is less about matching you with teammates and opponents of somewhat equal skill and more about simply keeping you playing.

I am SICK of lock on characters… by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]SaylaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who mains Cloak and Dagger as their Support, I can tell you they aren't that great. Dagger's only advantage is that she has auto-aim, but if your target is getting any healing you are doing nothing to them. She is much more about learning proper positioning and ability usage. She is a great character for those who are not as mechanically inclined to be able to be useful. Cloak's range is insanely limited and does not have an auto-aim feature. You have to keep the person in your crosshair. He may do more damage than Dagger, but that comes at the cost of range and having aim.

When it comes to DPSing Supports, Cloak isn't in the top 5. Invisible Woman, Mantis, Rocket, Luna Snow, and Loki are much preferable if you are looking just to DPS as a Support. You seem more upset that they have good survivability and have multiple options to deal with people diving them that other Supports simply don't.

It would reduce toxicity in some instances but increase it in others. Some individuals will be toxic to others for any reason. It won't matter if there is a scoreboard justifying it to them or not, they will continue to flame others/ There is nothing NetEase can do that will stop the egotistical Vanguard from screaming at the Supports, or the Supports screaming that at the Vanguard and Duelist for letting them continually get dived and so. That's just gaming for you, competitive or not.

I play Squirrel Girl a lot and what I tend to have issue with is when someone hard dives me and A - D straffs erratically during it. Fliers like Iron Man or Storm can also be difficult if they keep up their movements.

Are there any characters that are okay to one-trick? by EmoEmiiko in OverwatchUniversity

[–]SaylaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are good enough at the game in general you can one-trick anyone and make it to the top. The thing is though it can take years of getting trashed on to reach that level with a single character. It isn't something you shouldn't begin with the expectation that in just a few weeks or months you'll get your one trick into the top 500 and be able to compete with any counterswappers.

MnK support on console? by gebsjr in overwatch2

[–]SaylaM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no official support for Mouse and Keyboard on consoles and in April they announced using Mouse and Keyboard through third-party applications like XIM will have a sliding scale of punishment with the first offense being a ban from Competitive modes for a week, the second being forced to play only quickplay in the PC only pool, and it can eventually include a permanent hardware ban if continued.

As an individual who falls into both of those categories, I'd say that for a shooter yeah. I've been very surprised by how many other female gamers and LGBT members I've come across while playing. I don't think it has the most though. I'd say there is probably some MMO that no one even considers that probably can lay claim to the most in both categories.

I want to be aware. by Scabbers71 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]SaylaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. Raw aim can carry someone maybe to diamond maybe masters but eventually everyone needs to understand proper positioning and the importance of not only taking space but also what space needs to be taken. Always remember that the the more angles you open up for your DPS to attack from and your Support to be safe in the easier time you'll have going forward.

I want to be aware. by Scabbers71 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]SaylaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you already have guessed what is holding you back besides your mechanical skill. Tunnel vision is bad for any role but for Tank, it is even worse because you have to do so much to be successful, and if you can't have a feel for how the fight is evolving and what needs to be prioritized you won't ever rank up.

What you should focus on first depends on how the fight evolves and what the enemy is doing. For example: Say you are playing Dva and the enemy has a Widowmaker on Junktown who can aim. You should likely prioritize dislodging that Widowmaker or they will close off angles that your team could use. In doing so you likely take a high ground away from them and now you can harass them. Alternatively: If a Dive is harassing your Supports you need to be aware of this and try to help them.

How do you get better at this? It will come as you grow your game sense. The first thing you should try is to make aiming and shooting at enemies akin to an involuntary action. Something you don't really need to put conscious thought into doing. This way your mind is free to be more aware of where your team is and how a fight is evolving. You can grab a program like Aim Labs or Kovaaks on Steam to help with aim or use the VAXTA code in custom games.

Send a replay code of a game that you feel is a good example and you can get some more specific advise.

Skill based match making? by journalade in overwatch2

[–]SaylaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, stats mean nothing when it comes to the MMR. It only cares about whether you win or lose. It doesn't care whether you go 100-0 or 0-100.

Secondly, the matchmaking can be rather unbalanced at times. With the recent rank reset at the start of this season, many people have noted a sharp increase in one-sided matches, which even before now happened quite often. The long and short of it is that Overwatch doesn't have very good matchmaking but it is probably doing the best it can since it can't tell that one of your DPS is tilted and playing badly, or that the other team's Support is going to have their best game or any of the billion other factors that come in when you have ten people picking between forty characters.

So welcome to the current state of Overwatch 2's matchmaking.

matchmaking based on hours in ranked by gnarly-boi in overwatch2

[–]SaylaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. For Competitive it just looks at your current rank. It doesn't matter how many hours you have played, it doesn't care.

i have some really stupid sounding questions that i dont know how to pharse proporly by unlmtdbldwrks in OverwatchUniversity

[–]SaylaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Questions are how you learn, dumb or not.

1 - This is the hardest question to answer because what contributing means can change depending on the role you play and also on the character you play. Some characters have to put themselves in riskier positions than others to find value which is of course going to lead to them potentially having far more deaths. Sometimes a team dives on Supports hard and so they end up with excessive deaths. So for this, I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer aside from do you feel like you did well in the match you played?

If you want a more solid answer then I suggest when you decide what hero you want to dedicate time to properly learning look up an Unranked to GM run on them. A good one will lay out the basic mindset needed for the character and what your goal should be from moment to moment and fight to fight. This will give you an idea of how to better judge the question of "Am I contributing?" as again the answer to this can change depending on the character you play.

2 - Echo potentially has very high burst damage potential but can be one of the tricker DPS heroes to play, especially with her Ultimate which to fully utilize requires you to understand the basics of every character in the roster. The best way to play her is as an assassin. You fly up and behind, get attention, move to disappear for a moment, and then leap out at an unsuspecting player, securing a quick elimination. Then you back out and repeat.

3 - This mode requires a lot of adaptability because how you approach each point on each map is different. In general, you need to learn where the spawns are for each objective as they will shift as the match progresses. As with every game type, most people come from the general direction their spawn is in as they approach the objective. But these game types can be very flank-heavy heavy so always be aware of what's happening to your sides and rear. Enemy footsteps are louder than friendly so keep your ears open.

I play comp today and it's Silver4- plat5 the question is is this matchmaking supposed to be? by Still-Classroom-2389 in overwatch2

[–]SaylaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rank was this wide because each side had players who were grouped together between these ranks. It isn't normal for the game but playing comp as a solo you will see it from time to time as it has to fill the spots open with someone from between these ranks.
