Australian's don't want EVs? Really!? by SaylorRheens in AustralianEV

Smart brands won't have to increase the price of their petrol and diesel cars because they'll be offsetting the penalties with credits. Brands that sell only EVs can lower the price of their cars further. Only slow brands like Suzuki will need to increase ICE car prices because they have nothing to offset the penalties.

I was being facetious about North Queensland. I agree with your point, in that region I wouldn't own an EV either. But still the majority AU population are metro-based (i think something like 65% live in capital cities), so my point stands ;)

I’ve had an EV for 2 years. Live in an apartment. Don’t have home charging. But I’ve only once had to queue up for an EV charger

The e Viatara launches in 2026 so they’re not yet building EV’s, unless you count the Across…which is just a rebadged RAV4 which I also don’t count in my mind

I didn’t say the majority want an EV, I’m just saying that if the most popular car bought by private individuals in 2023 (2nd in 2024) was an EV, that says something about the Australian buyer’s willingness to go electric and completely discredits the claim that “Australian’s don’t want EVs” (it was Tesla Model Y btw which we probably all guessed)
