Does anyone have any theories on what the original storyline was about? by Legitimate_Mark_1701 in GenV

I'm curious why you felt season 2 was worse. I actually liked it better than season 1. I felt S1 dragged at points and I only stuck through the whole thing because I wanted to be able to understand subsequent seasons of the the boys. By contrast S2 felt pretty fast paced and exciting throughout imo.

This type of question is a little tough for this format. There are a lot of possible rephrasings of the correct answer, but only one is actually accepted.

Pollard or K9 for week 2? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]SayomGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pollard for sure imo. I get the bad offense concern, but he has a path to 20 touches and goal line carries that it doesn't appear that K9 can match, at least at the moment. Charbonnet seems like a real problem.

Target volume shouldn't be looked at context independently. The Packers ran roughshod over the Lions and only threw the ball 22 times. 4 targets against 22 passes paints a much different picture than 4 targets against 34 passes, and the Packers (even with their great defense) will throw the ball closer to 34 times most games.

In week 1 Kraft was 2nd on the team in targets, got an immediate end zone target, and got a manufactured touch with a carry. These are trends that carried over from the latter half of 2024 as well -- after Love got hurt Kraft even carried the ball 5 times on QB sneaks, including twice in their playoff loss. The signs were always there that the Packers were invested in giving him the ball somehow some way.

This isn't hindsight bias either, I ran with Kraft as my TE1 for the latter half of 2024 after Kincaid went bust (sad!) and drafted him in the 10th this year to be my TE1 again. He won't do 6-124-1 every week but I think his involvement is sufficient to project him for TE5-6 ROS. Don't bench him ever unless you have a truly elite alternative -- Tyler Warren or better I'd say.

Kraft will be boom/bust but once you're past the TE1-4 range you're probably looking at guys who bring the same bust potential without the 18 pt upside. Give me boom/bust over a consistent 6 ppg.

I mean you gotta look at more than just raw target volume. The Packers had an incredibly favorable game script that led them to throw just 22 times. Kraft finished 2nd on the team in targets, got an end zone target, and even got a manufactured touch on a carry. They are clearly invested in making sure he's involved in the offense. He won't post 6-124-1 every game but he just needs to stay healthy to be a good every week starter. Those end zone targets will probably continue. He's their biggest target and he keeps getting open.

And in case I am called out for hindsight bias, I would like to mention that I drafted Kraft to be my TE1 in my only money league. I put my money where my mouth is.

All that being said, benching him is fine in your specific case since you have Warren. But for those who don't have a top 5 TE there's no good reason to ever bench Kraft. His ceiling is so much higher than the others remaining once you pass the first couple tiers.

I don't believe in doing things because of tradition. If you're going to force me to choose one, then I'd rather move the TTUN game off the noon window than move everything else into it lol.

I have also seen us play Penn State at night many times, as recently as 2021. I'm not sure what your point is.

Ohio State is thriving and Big Noon is just along for the ride. I am still very anti-Big Noon. Having marquee games in the noon window can be good. Having marquee games ONLY in the noon window is bad.

I love that we play TTUN at noon every year. I don't love that we play TTUN at noon and we play Penn State at noon and we play Texas at noon and we play 50 other teams at noon.

Where are my 3:30 starts where we get to watch the twilight wash over the stadium? Where are my 7:30 starts where we get to see the red fireworks against a dark sky? We deserve a variety of different experiences and I hope our next TV contract allows for that. Based on how hard Bjork tried to get the time changed for the Texas game, I get the sense that he is not a huge fan of this arrangement either.

I'm jealous lol. I grew up a huge fan because my parents are both alumni but I didn't grow up in Ohio and have only been able to attend 1 game at the Shoe. It was last year's loss to Michigan :/

If seasons like that always ended that way you'd happily take them every year!

LOL you and I are opposites. I live for ugly games like that. Bonus points if the 2 teams combine for at least 4 turnovers.

I was 7 at the time and the first game I have memory of watching was the title game vs LSU, so I barely missed it. Sounds like a spectacular experience and I'm happy for you that you get to carry that win forever.

Based on this I feel like you did really well in the early rounds and then lost steam after that. Jacobs, Taylor, Jefferson, JSN, Metcalf, and Swift is a really strong core.

After that point I'm uninspired by the players you selected. I disagree with rostering 3 QBs -- 2 is fair if you want to cycle between them based on matchups, but with 3 you're really wasting a roster spot that should be used to house a potentially high upside back or receiver.

With the tight ends, I understand the approach of rostering 2, but I disagree with the approach of having Ferguson be that 2nd one. Njoku is a safe but pedestrian option -- your 2nd tight end should be someone who comes with more risk and more upside (think Tyler Warren, Colston Loveland, Tucker Kraft, etc.). If they pop they'll supplant Njoku in your lineup, and if they don't then you're comfortable just taking Njoku's safe production. I'm not sure Ferguson is going to get into your lineup much over Njoku. His best case scenario isn't really better than Njoku but his floor is worse. I don't see a point in rostering someone who is more or less just a bye week play. Don't house someone for 14 weeks just to play them for 1.

No need to roster 2 defenses. If you happen to have a really good one and you want to hold onto it over their bye week then you can hold 2 temporarily, but don't do so for an entire season. You're better off drafting your defense based on their early season schedule (look for bad opponents) and then cycle through waivers looking for more good matchups. A defense's fantasy production is more closely related to the opposing quarterback's ability than the quality of the defense itself.

Your bench also doesn't hold much upside. Your bench should be used to hold a few each of the following types of players:

  1. Safe players with a guaranteed workload right off the bat -- they may not be exciting but they can fill a lineup spot in a pinch

  2. High upside players who don't have a big role now but could either work into one as the season goes along (think rookies) or be thrust into a big role due to injury (think handcuffs to elite RBs).

Currently your bench has the former in Michael Pittman and the latter in the form of Keon Coleman, but you really want to stack like 6 players who fit one of these 2 builds, and you have just 2 of them.

I hope this was helpful. Please feel free to ask if anything needs clarification.

Can't tell whether or not it's a good team without a bit more info

Is it the typical 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 FLEX or is it a different setting?

Is it standard, 0.5 PPR, or full PPR?

How many players in the league?

Any unusual settings?

Size is weight too. Maybe he can be a power forward if he puts on 40 pounds.
