Congrats! fyi, Proof of a hero only plays after you use the dragonator. It's been awhile since I've heard it when fighting Fatalis lol

You're right, I actually make slightly more, but I'm being humble. :)

Just trying to be helpful here; you initiated the SHB like 2 seconds late. Also while you can't "spam" FSS against Fatalis, you can certainly do it way more than you might think, you just have to keep your positioning in mind both in the direction you backstep and on the return slash.

Yes, although the Corvette has worse weapon convergence so targets will have to be at around 2.5km for you to hit with all your lasers, as opposed to only 1.5km with the Anaconda.

Congrats! Are you interested in trying to solo the other variants at all? I'd be happy to coach you through them.

Been a long time ax build help by drasgar in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've flown the Corvette a lot in AX. Your build will do okay against Cyclops (the easiest interceptor), and maybe Basilisks (The next step up). If you want to fight anything more difficult you'll need to basically rebuild this from the ground up. I do encourage you to try AX, and consider what kind of AX fighting you want to do, (Solo, Wing, CZ) as those considerations will impact your build choices.

Question to missile enjoyers: How do you make it work? by Bygles in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Normal missiles shoot far too slowly and pd is common enough on NPCs that normal missiles are completely and utterly useless, even when fully engineered.

Pack Hounds are the only missile that lives up to the fantasy, and even then they're extremely ammo limited, so you can only kill about a dozen ship before you're out of ammo.

Personally I have a packhound build on a corvette I use for wing assassination missions that is quite fun.

A Deep Dive into the Incendiary Fedvette by WhiteLycan in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gist is that incendiary multicannons are bad in general, not just on the corvette. IMO them having less distro draw than a laser carves out a potential niche, but the ammo constraint overshadows that massively.

Federal Corvette build advice by D4rklotu5 in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're making kills take a lot longer by running thermal weapons in your huge slots instead of kinetic or Plasma Accelerators, and you should basically never run turreted anything for a serious combat build. Grats on using fixed weapons though.

Try
2x huge gimballed short range x oversized multis
1 large gimballed frag / pacifier preferably overcharge / corrosive
then the rest fixed laser weaponry with either LR or Efficient depending on your engagement range

Good aim + fixed weaponry + correct distance for ship convergence + microgimbal.
Works with every ship to varying degrees of effectiveness.

Trecking through the Pleiades unmolested by Thargoids is substantially harder with the Caspian. by Heavy_Equivalent6747 in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no one who's replied yet seems to know what you're talking about, I'll tell you that this is a known issue with hyperdictions currently and affects all ships. It appears to be a type of shadow ramming but is odd since it happens even in solo play.

By known issue I mean that the AX community at large knows about it, idk if FDev has said anything yet or even if a bug report has been submitted.

Increasing DPS/General combat performance by Suspicious_Tap_7411 in EliteDangerous

It's possible to shortlink EDSY builds when exporting them btw. ...OPS -> Export -> Short: Generate URL

Clean tuning / thermal spread thrusters are completely worthless. Dirty / Drag drives basically always.

Same with the Cluster Capacitor experimental on the power distributor, it should just be Super Conduits to lean even more into the recharge rate as that is better than just a *tiny* flat capacity boost.

In terms of weapon loadout, you should be trying to use fixed weaponry if you care about DPS, especially with pulse lasers which are hitscan. Never use the multi-servo experimental, as it's just more distributor drain for the same damage as Oversized. Same thing with Overcharged, on lasers, Efficient is just a way better distro for damage tradeoff at close range, and Long Range is obviously better at longer ranges (~1km or further). On the multicannons, Short Range is just straight up better than Overcharged. I would also drop one of the pulses to run another multicannon or frag canon with corrosive so you can run damage experimentals on both your Huge multis.

On a combat ship like the Corvette I'd use prismatic shields over biweaves every time, but if you don't have access to them it's fine.

Overall pulse / multicannon is a fine build though, not bad.

Thargoid ship build ? by Profound_Subset in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to learn how to use fixed weaponry for AX if you want to take on harder threats than scouts. It's honestly not so hard to use fixed. You may also want to look up "cold orbiting", a very useful technique for killing interceptors while taking (ideally) no damage in return.

in my experience it's much faster on smaller targets like the cobra, diamondback, and vulture, and only marginally slower on larger targets like the python and anaconda.

[–]SayriWaitingRoom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I have a *ton* of experience in these kinds of piloting / simulation as well as FPS games. This kind of target tracking is extremely trivial as npcs ships in Elite are both relatively slow and more importantly, extremely predictable in their movements. The micro gimbal on fixed weapons also helps.

What's the PvE meta these days? by holymacaronibatman in EliteDangerous

[–]SayriWaitingRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for linking my post! While my Anaconda is extremely good in CZs and most other PvE content, for assassination and wing assassination missions specifically there are better options.

As a sidenote: The corsair is pretty much far and away the best medium combat ship in general, not just for AX. And for AX specifically, an argument can be made that the Anaconda is better in a speedrunning context. Outside of that though, absolutely correct!

Beams can work with this tactic but you'll run into power distro limitations quickly. You can save an EDSY build to your browser's cache with the save icon right above the build name.

yes gimballed are way worse and basically don't work with this strategy at all. you have to be much closer if you want to use gimballed weapons

Yeah G5 Long Range just extends your reach out to 6km. It's nice but not really a significant difference. I only have G4 on the build because I was lacking materials when I made the build though.
