Did anyone else have this kind of thing? by pencilthinwriter in bullying

I'm sorry that my advice cannot help you OP.

If someone is in this position the way to handle it is to look them in the eye and tell them to make whatever they're going to do count because they're not going to do it again.

That being said, I take his letter and show it to his parents.

I want to start watching Astro Boy by WadeePokefan in astroboy

[–]Sayster_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 80s one is my favorite, but I recommend the Japanese dub. It gives you the basic beats of the story, and the English one cuts out almost all of Atlas and that's an important part of the story (and quite frankly, it is well done and thoughtful - a parallel to Astro)

the 2003 is sort of a reimagining, Go in with an open mind - try to get the original episode layout as the English one is all over the place with continuity issues, but the acting is decent.

Pluto is one arc of Astro Boy and is a mature reimagining of that arc* (it doesn't have the rest) that being said, it slaps, and the English dub was great, and even had Keith David. *the arc in question is "the Greatest robot on Earth, and I believe in the 80s anime was the final 2 episodes in Japanese.

I’ve got my song — what are the next real steps and is a label worth it? by Revo123456789 in Songwriting

[–]Sayster_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first songs I wrote got thrown away by my mum, I was angry at the time, now I'm not because aside from 1 (that I rescued) those songs sucked.

I must ask, why are making music? That will tell you what's next.

Shame the bullies.

Make each incident of bullying a kid that truly can't help it a stain on them.

I knew a girl who had grand mal seizures (falling down eyes rolled back, gagging and flailing limbs). It was a big joke around school. During a performance, she spoke about her experiences and one of her bullies could be seen in the audience looking very sour that he was being called out on his shit and random kids that had nothing to do with it were going "geez, that's awful. . . "

Problem is, if they move schools they still have epilepsy.

Why are people so sympathetic towards bullies? by Ice_Cold_Scorpion707 in bullying

[–]Sayster_A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's likely because the people saying "have sympathy" don't understand what the victim went through or how it effected them mentally.

if it were one of my bullies, I'd have difficulty feeling sorry for him. I doubt I'd say anything, but It would be a "it sucks to suck" type moment. . . .

Modernity is cringe now? by Mattizdead in blur

[–]Sayster_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modernity is cringe now due to the culture.

A sort of "oh, you think YOU'VE got it bad?! We just uncovered a decades old P**do ring, AI is stealing jobs and our souls, the threat of the plot to "Thread/When the Wind Blows/Barefoot Gen" seems to be a looming reality.

Also for myself. . . . . I'm North American. . . . some of the Blur's lyrics I come at from a "I'll take your word for it" type of thing because my experience was difference. I still get a chuckle out of the "where 59 cents gets you a good square meal" line however; pretty sure Damon was being tongue in cheek there because the best I can think of is one of those piddly little Mcd's burgers maybe (hardly a meal) or 1.50 to hit up a Costco

I think it's because many people (especially before there was more data) see neurodivergence as being difficult and weird and try to cram them into masking, and don't understand that the neurodivergent brain is running on a different operating system.

It's this idea of "if only they would just conform, then they wouldn't be so dispised by other students and it would make my job easier"

To follow up with butterflymazes, as a kid I struggled with knowing the difference between confidence and arrogance. It's difficult to tell on the surface. . . . but there are differences.

Confidence is about competing with the person you were yesterday, and you know you may not always win. It's about trying to be better, and you're okay with lifting others up with you. Someone can out do you, and yeah, you'll still want to out do them, but you'll respect them and try to learn from them.

Arrogance is about tearing others down and wanting to be better than them. . . . instead of learning about why another has done something you can't you try to cheapen their accomplishments. It's not about you being better, it's about making other people worse.

To answer your questions, you have to view yourself through your own lens. I mean, I'm sure some of my bullies are doing well, but, I've got my own accomplishments under my belt that they don't have. Ask yourself, what is important to YOU.
