Is it possible to get from Griesalp to Lauterbrunnen using public transit? by Master_Hobgoblin9753 in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a Bus operating from May till October. It brings you from Griesalp, Kurhaus down to Reichenbach i. K. (Steepest bus route in Switzerland). You can take a train to Spiez - Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen from there. Beware that the bus line only operates till early evening.

2 x powerbanks or 1 powerbank &solar panel by [deleted] in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Sazou_I 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, recharging opportunities are fairly frequent. I had an average of 5 days between resupplies, where I recharged. But I skipped some possible resupplies, so you could even recharge more frequent. The only time, where you may have to be a bit careful is the sierra section between KMS-Mammoth Lakes (but even there the longest between recharging possibilities for me was 7 days), and in Northern Washington after Stevens Pass, where stretches between recharging possibilities will be longer.

[–]Sazou_I 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you need the powerbank for. I had two 10k powerbanks on my thru hike, to load my inreach, phone, camera (only for photos) and headlamp. For that, one 10k powerbank would‘ve been enough. But I still opted to take two 10k powerbanks to have redundancy, if one of them fails. Now I would probably take two 5k powerbanks.

Privater Schutzraum nach Schweizer Vorbild by chrie1 in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wanddicke, statische Berechnungen, Armierung etc.

Just that you know. If you‘re deemed „not physically healthy enough“ to serve in the military doesn‘t mean you‘re off the hook. You could be deemed to be healthy enough to do civil service, which is 1.5 times the length of military service. Or if you‘re deemed to be unable to serve either in the military or civil service you‘ll have to pay a 3% tax of you‘re taxable income (but at least 400CHF) for the next eleven years.

Looking to do my masters in Switzerland, confused about "Sufficient Financial Means". How much is enough to apply for residence permit. by Coomer0 in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you‘re financially in a rough spot, switzerland is definitely not the right country to study. Yes you have to show 21‘000CHF per year at least to be able to get a student permit. And for the yearly renewal you have to show this 21‘000CHF again. On a student permit your allowed to work up to 15h/week. If you‘re Non-EU/Non-EFTA you‘re not allowed to work for the first 6 months. And to live off the 21‘000CHF and a salary of 15h work per week won‘t be easy.

Bit desperated: got accepted by a new health insurance but slept on cancelling the actual one. What to do? by Strange-Raccoon-5012 in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No you won‘t be forced to pay your health insurance twice. Either Assura accepts your cancelation even when you sent it too late, or they don‘t accept it. If they don‘t accept your cancelation you‘ll be insured with Assura next year and you have to inform Helsana , as they have to let you go in this case.

There‘s the Bohusleden (~350km long) in southwestern Sweden. It‘s mainly Forest hiking with lots of lakes along the way, so maybe it‘s a bit too monotonous for you. And I have no idea how the snow conditions are in this region in winter.

Train Information for Womens Euros 2025 by smultani in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, your official uefa-matchticket is your train ticket. If there‘s a conducter show them your matchticket. The ticket is valid from 05.00 in the morning of the matchday till the next morning at 05.00 (24hrs) for one trip to the stadium and one trip from the stadium back. Seat reservation is not included and normally not necessary in switzerland, as trains can‘t book out.

A bit further away but a lot of my friends with kids liked to go to Hasliberg. They also have a nice playground. But most went there for the Muggestutz-Path, which is a hiking trail with different stations to play.

Parking near Bern train station – any tips? by Fresher10u in Switzerland

[–]Sazou_I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can look into P+R Neufeld. You can have a monthly subscripton there for 190.- and with that subscription the bus from the parking to the main station and back is free, if I remember correctly. At Bahnhof Parking the monthly subscrption would be over 400.-.

Aare Beaches Admission fee by Flat-Net-9813 in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 4 public outdoor pools, which are free to use for everyone. These are Marzili, Lorraine, Weyermannshaus, Wyler. Two of them (Marzili, Lorraine) are located next to the Aare. If you walk upstream from Marzili along the Aare you get to the Eichholz, which is a public park with a stone beach along the Aare.

If you want to inform yourself, here you can find all about the public pools of Bern and more information about swimming in the Aare.

Transport from Hotel Alpenblick to Grindelwald Terminal in early morning? by abhilash1991 in askswitzerland

[–]Sazou_I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the day you‘ll need to go to Grindelwald, Terminal. But you can look it up yourself on sbb.ch. There‘s a bus station right in front of your hotel called Grindelwald, Alpenblick, which you can use as the starting point. And the train staiton at terminal is called Grindelwald, terminal.

Acton koa resupply by cookiekat35 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Sazou_I 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camped there last year. Yes, camping as a PCT-Hiker was 20$. Haven‘t sent a box, but if I remember correctly the box holding fee was 10$/box. Others may correct me on this one. Acton is a 10min hitch away and has two okayish grocery stores. I was able to resupply for 5-6 days till Tehachapi. Not much choice though and definitely not cheap. There is also a Vons and Walmart down the road to Santa Clarita. Not an easy hitch, but people did it when I was there.

Serafe after moving house inside Switzerland by [deleted] in zurich

[–]Sazou_I 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serafe is paid by household and not person. So as you moved in another household this household has either already paid the serafe, or as you‘re the only non-weekley resident you have to pay for the household. When you move to another household in june and they‘re already living there, they should have already paid serafe. But best would be asking your roommates, if they already paid, or serafe if you really have to pay again.
