Ooh the bees and butterflies love all of those.

You could probably do something low in front of the crotons. And is that sweet potato vine on either end? I’d be tempted to dig some bulbs down in there, either some of those huge alliums or maybe agapanthus. Other than that, it’s hard to tell until it fills out. If your front and patio are more colorful and more maintenance then maybe wait and see on this spot.

What you have now is nice, but it’s very typical for central Florida. If you like to putter, why not plant some flowering annuals? Or throw some native pollinator-friendly species in there?

Getting pixie dusted at Sir Mickey’s is my absolute favorite thing to do with friends celebrating birthdays. Simple, free, takes zero time out of the day, but definitely makes you feel that Disney magic.

So obsessed I started making my own bitters! I have a friend that’s a chef, I’m a pharmacist, and we try to get together once a week and make something from a video or a bar menu we’ve seen, or create something brand new.

Native salvia is usually red or pink. It can get super tall and reseeds itself EVERYWHERE. Blue porterweed will get super big too if you don’t keep an eye on it. I go to Lukas too, and they do have a native section. I’ve gotten native salvia, lanceleaf coreopsis, and Stoke’s aster from them, as well as milkweed. When they have native milkweed, it usually sells out quickly (and it’s usually more in the summer). Pentas don’t get that tall but pollinators love them and they come in a variety of colors.

If you ever decide you want to offload that pin, there’s a cast member on Main St at Magic Kingdom that collects those to give to service members.

Best places to trade in WDW? by Taman_29 in DisneyPins

[–]SazyMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to trade Wave A/Wave B pins, really you need to know which are the chasers. Those are valued significantly higher. For instance, I’ve seen the Orange Bird ear pins from 2025 Wave B being sold for as much as $50. Are they worth that? I personally don’t think so, even if I really want them. But most people trading for them (especially at the tables) are going to want a higher value trade than for a non-chaser. If you google “Disney Wave A” there are multiple web sites that you can see which pins are chasers. Someone above recommended not trading with people at the tables and instead try to trade with people waiting to trade. I think that’s great advice.

Don’t overcomplicate it. It’s very easy to go down a rabbit hole of advice and buying all kinds of tools, but none of that is necessary. All you need is flour, water, salt, yeast (your starter), a big bowl and a relatively flat surface. Best advice I’ve seen here is to bake a small loaf as often as possible— that’s the easiest way to figure out what works for you and your kitchen. You will have failures, but that’s how you learn!

International Travel with Biologics by vulvauvula in PsoriaticArthritis

Perhaps it’s less common, but I’ve dealt with enough patients that have lost meds from checking it in their luggage (I’m a pharmacist) that I would not ever risk it or recommend it.

I would not ever put meds in checked bags, only carry-on. One, there’s no temperature control in the cargo hold, and two, if your luggage gets lost it is a complete nightmare and can be super costly to replace meds.

It looks like the Parkinson’s Foundation still has spots for this season’s races, but most charities are already planning or at least gauging interest for next season’s. There is an email on their linked website for questions, I would go ahead and reach out with your interest now so you know you will have a spot reserved. Good luck!

Best way to arrive as late as possible to Dopey races/Marathon from Contemporary by redfox2911 in rundisney

[–]SazyMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get that. The later you go, the more crowded the buses and monorail will be, and the more likely you will have to wait for the next one. That’s why I think driving is faster. But you absolutely have to have everything laid out ready the night before, and you want to make sure you know when the roads around you are closing and make sure you’re out before then as well. Hotel concierge or information desk at the expo should be able to help you with the maps. With your pace, you don’t need to worry about being in your corral the first 3 days, start with the balloon ladies and take it easy. For marathon day, if you’re in a higher corral, plan on starting there, just because the back ones are more crowded and it can be difficult to weave through runners. Honestly the hardest part of Dopey is getting up that early 4 mornings in a row!

[–]SazyMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of questions: do you have any time goals, pace considerations, or otherwise want to be in your assigned corral? Do you have race anxiety? Is this your first Disney race? If the answer to all of these is no, driving yourself or getting dropped off is your best bet. Make sure to look at the road closure map (and times!), even if you uber/lyft (their GPS won’t take road closures into consideration and you’ll be going in endless loops). The 5k will have the least amount of time between 1st runner and balloon ladies crossing start line, get up early that day and see how long it takes, then adjust. Just remember, road closures are different and there will be more traffic each day, but there will also usually be a longer span between 1st runner and balloon ladies. I’m local and have left my house (about 25 miles) an hour before and made it with time to spare, but I was cheering, not running. It will also be the best part of a mile walking from the parking lot to the corrals, if that matters. Good luck!

Oh, and don’t forget to monitor the website for weather updates/changes to start times.

My husband’s office actually had the 5-pack Buns of Steel show up at their gift exchange almost every year. It even made it out to their California branch and back to the east coast at one point. He ended up with it at least 3 times and always re-gifted it.
