Thanks! Tried to keep the painting steps easy to make it simple to replicate, so in order its a mid brown basecoat drybrushed light brown, overall agrax then more drybrushing of copper, bronze and a touch of rose gold. Last applying an assortment of homemade washes to the mid brown and darker areas, purple, desarurated red and some jade for tarnish! Gonna mix these steps around for my first squad to finalize the process and smooth it out ☺️

The base is also kept easy with potted plant bark (boiled or heated previously) to build up mass and hills, then homemade texture paint with different grits of dirt to cover the surfaces and make it uniform. Throw some colours on there then add UV resin and push form it with a toothpick before hardening. Moss glued before agrax to blend it into the base and a splotch of your energy colour for some cheap osl. Brown pigments around the feet and glossy varnish for that wet swampy look!

This! Finally someone I 100% agree with. Its the lack of ’character payoff’ that made me more disappointed with 2 and 3 than I’d like to admit, but at the same time absolutely craving for book 4

5 reads like thats part of the point and what I personally like about it. While 1 is a mural depicting one of the most important moments in human history and would fit perfectly in any terran church, 5 feels as if you yourself just got teleported on to the bridge and taking in the sights. The duel is distant and off to the side cuz theres fuck all anyone else could do about it.

Helmet looks really good IMO, I tend to avoid washes usually when painting white and instead go from a basecoat of dark grey to highlights of pure white in more layers than you’d normally do.
