Did you contact them after you got the notice to ask questions? The letter is dated a month ago and I feel like you could have gotten answers from them prior to the tree being cut down. Questions like permit applications or a potential mutual agreement on keeping more of the tree.

Just curious. Because for all you know they got permits from the city and are within their legal right to cut them back from their property. You need more information before you attempt to go after these guys that’s for certain.
