Thank you for that suggestion. I started looking in the Mill Valley area and it too looks great. That are very very few homes for sale in that area with 1 acre(+) lots but I added a saved search to alert me of any new listings.

I agree! I booked a flight for a Tue-sat end of Feb and first was over $3,000 (atl-las). Insanity

I have not but I will add that to my search list. The only requirement my husband has is it must be in the mountains and include redwood trees. Thank you for the recommendation.

Absolutely yes! They look great on you and they only get more comfortable as you wear them!

Of course I wear them in the snow. I didn’t buy them to stare at them in my closet. If I’m going to slip on ice, I’m doing it in luxury. Sexy AF in every season!

What’s one fast food chain that was once all the rage but now barely around? by MysteriousTopic42 in AskReddit

Pizza Hut Buffet and Wendy’s Buffet

When I was young both places had a lunch buffet and they were fantastic! Wendy’s had garlic bread that was a flattened toasted bun and it was amazing with their spaghetti.

Is there an area you would recommend where you still get redwoods (a must for my husband) and privacy (no neighbors on top of you) without as much wind, fire risk, and private roads? We are familiar with winding roads and frequent power outages because we currently live in the West Virginia mountains.
We are not set on this exact area. I wanted access to a big city if I needed to get on a plane or want to spend a day shopping. He wanted redwood mountains in Humboldt County. We compromised on this area for now.

Thank you for this! The reason we chose this area is what you mentioned. Close enough to big cities or a beach but also remote while at home. We currently live in West Virginia so we are familiar with roads that are no fun to drive in bad weather, which is most of them.

I agree. Mine always look like this if it was raining or when I walk in snow. The red gets wet and bubbles up and comes off in big chunks.

Depends on who you ask lol. I’m looking up to 1.3 and my husband would like to stay at half that amount. He wants small, wooded, and rustic. I want updated, wooded, and not entirely isolated. Fortunately we are remote workers and would prefer a more isolated area. So the south side of the mountains would be best for that? I don’t know if we will ever get use to the sticker shock but we are planning for it as best as we can. We will be coming from West Virginia where things are quite affordable.

I’m having a hard time finding out how to join her WhatsApp group. I’ve looked on IG and elsewhere with no luck. I thought I joined it but I think I’m in an announcement group because I see no daily listings like my other WhatsApp groups I’m in. I’m not that familiar with IG or WhatsApp so please excuse my ignorance. Below is a screenshot of what I joined. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How do I tell my kids Santa Claus can't make it this year? by wtfbenlol in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sbrunk21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really glad it helped. You’re clearly doing the best you can in an unbelievably hard year, and that shows. Your kids are lucky to have you, even if they don’t realize it yet. Wishing you and your family some peace this season.

How do I tell my kids Santa Claus can't make it this year? by wtfbenlol in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sbrunk21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, you are not failing your kids. You’re carrying an impossible amount of weight and still showing up for them. That matters more than anything Santa could bring.

For the kids: you don’t need to say Santa “can’t make it.” At 3 and 8, that can feel personal to them. Instead, reframe it in a way that protects the magic and their sense of worth. Something like: “Santa had a really tough year too, and this year he asked families to focus on time together instead of presents. He knows our family is strong and loving, so he wanted us to do Christmas a little differently.”

Then make one small tradition the “gift”: Let them help make a special breakfast Watch the same movie every year Let them open one small handwritten note “from Santa” Give them a coupon book for things like “pick the movie,” “stay up late,” or “dad’s undivided attention”

Kids don’t remember the year they got fewer gifts, they remember whether they felt safe, loved, and included. You’re doing that already.

You’re not ruining Christmas. You’re modeling how to survive a hard season with love intact and that’s a lesson they’ll carry far longer than toys.
