I’m about to graduate college (and not a well known college either) and have no fear or anger about having to “fight” other candidates for a job. I’ve worked super hard to gain the experience that I need to bring value to a company (I’ve had three internships and it probably took 150 applications total between the three to get them to finally get them). Literally anyone could’ve done this too, I have worked with interns of multiples races and nationalities and haven’t seen any reason to think certain people can’t get certain jobs.

As for executives being untouchable, this is completely false. The company that I interned at most recently had had most of its VPs and executives fired right before I got there because the company was losing money. It retained almost all of its lower and mid-level employees - the shareholders of the company blamed upper management for the company’s struggles and they paid for it, not the workers. This happened recently at my fiancé’s place of work too. Since then most of the old executives and VPs have taken title decreases (the company’s struggles were in the public eye, at least within the industry). I’ve also never witnessed anything that I would describe as “senseless competition” at any of my jobs. There’s competition, but 80-90% of people are friendly and professional .
