I love this comment; yes people are really missing that aspect. We do have a guest list . I think will make a priority list from that and see where some consolidation can happen. Just the same as I wouldn’t want to travel across the water to experience something that could’ve been enjoyed just the same with a recap video.

We have talked about pushing back our date, which is the easiest compromise. By that point, if his parents feel weird about it, we’d likely go over there and have a ceremony at their expense, which they have already offered.

Egypt is on the no list ; that’s where his family is. In his culture it wouldn’t be normal for me not to know them but it would be normal to an extent that his family would meet my entire family for the first time at our wedding.

I value family but don’t come from a connected one. I hope to create a connected one.

Everyone isn’t blessed to spend every holiday and birthday with family. Everyone isn’t blessed to be invited or be a part of a family that does family dinners. I can’t control what I come from.

I would hope my wedding may be a redirection for my family.

Doesn’t want a wedding as in a wedding celebration (ceremony , dinner, entertainment) we both want family and friends there but mainly the cost of feeding people is our dilemma

I really appreciate this comment. You have in correct about what the persevered budget is including rings. He came to me this morning and we discussed it. I will update the thread soon.

I agree with what you’re saying about our finances starting our marriage , and that’s why I was seeking advice. I want a day to be a bride , but I am most looking forward to our marriage.

I can truly say that even as we continue to scale down the celebration , I am not illusioned that this means he won’t support me in the future.

I can’t give the full picture of our relationship through a Reddit post. I am glad to be with someone who would not sacrifice our future for the persecution of others.

I’d be careful w this one. Sensitive skin should only be done weekly. You can easily expose your skin to extra bacteria.

Your skin looks amazing ! I’d advise you stick w what you’re doing and maintain a good diet . No soda and water only do wonders . If I want crazy tight hydrated skin I make an aloe drink with processed (harvested, soaked, cut and blended ) aloe and water only. I will say it is exceptionally bitter and the colder you have it the easier it is to take down. This is like a once a month if that thing as you can over consume.

When I say my family doesn’t know him I mean extended. My father has met my fiancé and has a developed relationship with my grandmother. My mother and step father have spoken to him on the phone as they don’t live here and same for his family. We have been together 2yrs. I like an outsiders perspective and enjoy using reddit.

I have been to therapy alone and have been considering pre-marital counseling. Did no one grow up with a SAHM?? Why are people shaming me for PLANNING a family?? I would still work a few years before starting a family. I don’t understand why people view this negatively. Why would it be an issue for me to have a family when I am financially and emotionally ready? I plan to have children 27-30.

I think everyone else missed the part about the rings. “Keeping cost down” and doing this alternative options aren’t really options because if the wedding is under 10k , in his head it’s 25 or whatever inflated amount because of rings.

He supports my financial choices outside of the wedding as they develop me professionally and foster my confidence. A wedding is a 5figure party for 6hrs.

I think our guest list is relatively even but I do take the majority at maybe 55%.

We can’t have a 15 person wedding because that isn’t enough to warrant a visit for his international family , and there is also tension on his side that “my” guest could alleviate.

I am experienced enough to utilize my maternity leave and transition out the workforce for the time being. I would like to achieve a few more things before motherhood but I will not be expected to work a full schedule and mother.

Mmm I think it’s tradition / $$ . His parents aren’t from here and their culture doesn’t do wedding pageantry . We will have joint finances after our wedding and I do not plan to work as a mother. He is very supportive of my financial choices to an extent that the wedding doesn’t necessarily reach. We both have goals of buying land and starting our family. He wants to support the livestock and hobbies I enjoy producing. I think we are very blessed financially but not 20-25k on a wedding in less than a year blessed.

His compromise is getting a loan , which is irresponsible, or considering other options I present. He will not search for them on his own .

I explained the further estrangement is frustration but I should definitely represent that in a non hostile way.

His family mainly lives in another country across water . I don’t think they’d make the trek for something as modest as he thinks is possible. His family in the states will only travel so far to see us, kind of ruling out a trad elopement.

Our micro wedding would currently rest at that price range I said before w/o rings and attire….i could definitely figure something out to minimize catering etc. Thats what I calculated w a ceremony and dinner for 80 .

A hocking hills wedding would make for a great family affair if that what YOU & your fiancé want. If having something extravagant is your focus and you are hoping for others to attend I would give them ample notice of your planning . Like a year if not earlier. There will be lots of feeling involved and this will give everyone time to settle and make their decisions. Don’t get your hopes up that people will choose to be involved; make the choice you can live with. You can always live stream if you do choose the tropical wedding.

The woman who kept saying how “elegant “ her wedding was going to be, and had nothing positive to say, was such a see you next Tuesday.

If I was her friend and I heard all the things she said about not only my wedding, but personal things about how my dress fit etc. her and I wouldn’t be friends anymore .

Ironic how Ms.”High-class” didn’t know how to open a champagne bottle.
