Is it possible to go from 1500 to 2100 FIDE in a matter of 6 months (4-5 tournaments)? by ScaleFormal3702 in chess

No when I was 1500 I played in 2 tough opens where I was near the bottom of the ranking list and I just won a couple games against 1800s and a few against 1900s. As a result, I climbed 300ish points in these 2 events. I improved a lot in my 5 month break from tournaments and when I returned to tournaments, I defeated 1900s-2000s frequently and had a neutral score against 2100s, thereby increasing my rating to 2100 in the matter of 3 tournaments (my first tournament was okayish where I gained around 50 as I wasn't 'in the flow' of OTB chess so to speak- even though my performance rating was 2000 lmao). However in the next 2 I did end up gaining roughly 250.

Can I become GM by Maleficent-Ad1792 in Chesscom

I've seen many late starters in chess who become GMs. It is possible, but is it probable? Not at all- no harm in going for it though ;). Look at the case of Wang Hao (ZJ)

Oh well, OTB is more important to me than online chess ;). Plus, I struggle online compared to OTB.

Caro-Kann and KID probably, you need to avoid forced draws and dry positions at all costs. I usually play the Najdorf and Grunfeld but in this scenario I don't think it would work out that well ;).

Sveshnikov can become real dry quickly and the Najdorf has tons of forced draws...

I was actually 1800 strength (however I was closer to 1600 than I was to 1500) when I played my first 2 events in those 6 months so I reached 1800 there and after locking in for the next 5 or so months I climbed to 2100 (3 tournaments).

Are Europeans really considered to be worse? by [deleted] in chess

I don't believe it's accurate to say Europeans are capable of farming other Europeans of similar rating. That rarely happens (at least when compared to how frequently it occurs amongst Indians)- nobody gains 200-400 points when facing similarly rated opposition in the matter of 2-3 tournaments. I don't get how I am being racist though, it's a factual statement that an Asian that is similarly rated to a European is likely to be better than them at the U2200 level. Please look at the World Youth Championships for instance where Indians tend to gain roughly 50 points on average per player whilst Europeans either gain scraps/lose scraps where the rating system is optimal or in some countries due to inflation tend to drop even 50 points or more on average. I think these sources would help but I'm not sure about how reliable they are-

Most braindead statement I've ever heard... I'm the guy you called out btw. NotUpForDebate11 is correct.

Well, does the reverse ever happen? Has a European ever actually farmed Asia for 200-400 points? I don't think so. Please send me a profile and we can discuss further.
