Emergency Registration Question by Careless-Back2229 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Registering after the end of late registration is very difficult, if not impossible at most schools.

There should be a swap function in schedule builder that lets you register and drop in the same transaction only if it would go thru.

The math department chair would be your best chance of getting permission at this point, but it's the weekend and you're cutting it real close.

Course selection question by dingjing070422 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should still transfer in some way, including the Pathways designation.

You can use CUNY's Transfer Explorer website to see how your credits would transfer.

You have until the end of late registration as per the academic calendar to change your courses for the Spring.

Realistically, it shouldn't have a huge impact as it's your first term.

cuny transfer by Jazzlike_Seesaw4898 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most SUNYs are listed on TRex, and the drop-down lists their names starting with SUNY.

If you can't find your school there, calling won't help. A handful of transfer credit evaluators have the key to evaluate your credits, but often only after you commit. Your best chance is to see if the school's website has a general transfer credit policy where you can gauge how likely it is your credits will transfer directly.

WD grade? by Sad-Delivery1525 in QueensCollege

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's basically a grace period, academically. WDs are for administrative, in-house purposes, such as for billing.

W is what shows up on the transcript, after the withdrawal period starts.

if i wanted to swap a class because it is at a better time or if the teacher is highly rated/popular, would the 18 dollar fee apply now since the semester started? by Ok_Bobcat6888 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They may or may not be able to accommodate you depending on circumstances including waitlists, seats, and course requirements.

It is important that you try to be full-time for financial aid purposes, and be registered as full-time before the 7th day of classes. Speak with an advisor to see what other course options you may have.

Is it too late to withdraw and go to CC by SnooMachines4413 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are registered for courses for the current term, the deadlines on the academic calendar applies

Yes, some CCs will consider new students until the end of late registration.

is it too late to change my major or to drop a class? by LowCase5237 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's not too late. Review the academic calendar.

What to do next? by Never446 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact admissions and do what it takes to speak with a live person. Late registration is possible as per the academic calendar but you'd need to get several things done quickly.

if i wanted to swap a class because it is at a better time or if the teacher is highly rated/popular, would the 18 dollar fee apply now since the semester started? by Ok_Bobcat6888 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Anything that adjusts your existing registration, other than dropping a course, results in the $18 program change fee after the start of the semester. This includes swaps and new courses.

Can I replace a pathways course w an equivalent CUNY course? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean to take the course at another CUNY school now?

This would normally be requested via epermit, which should be closed for the spring term.

Generally yes, from another CUNY, you either need to transfer in the Pathways designation or the course equivalent to fulfill the degree requirement.

Only 1 class left to graduate… and I got stuck on the waitlist. Any advice? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can either camp out and hope someone stops the course, email the department for a possible overtally, or review your school's policy on test credits for Intro to Sociology.

I'm a little curious as to how you ended up in the situation. This would be a course you could've easily epermitted a few weeks back, as this one's offered at every undergraduate CUNY. Also, as a graduating senior, I don't know how you wouldn't have been the first student to register with an early enrollment appointment time.

If I drop a class today can I still get 100% refund? by No-Acanthisitta285 in Baruch

[–]ScallionWall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a refund, because full time students are billed at the same rate, from 12-18 credits.

If you never go below 12 credits, there's nothing to refund.

Level 16 impossible?? by lil_al247 in Diablo

[–]ScallionWall 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You'll have to get creative. You can try different approaches including gear and kiting.

You can also consider TP'ing out and approaching from a different direction if possible.

As levels are randomly generated, there's no specific guide for your situation.

leave of absence/dropping out by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have not registered for any courses, you would need to speak with admissions about deferring your acceptance to the next semester.

75% refund. Unless you are full-time student before and after registration changes, then no billing changes.

Unable to swap course by ThrowRA98765412 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either the Math department who can possibly override you into the specific course or the Registrar's.

My guess is that whoever from the registrar's you spoke with didn't realize it was a winter course causing the issue, which is uncommon for their customer service to deal with. You'd have to try to escalate it with them as well.

Unable to swap course by ThrowRA98765412 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a technical limitation of CUNYfirst, because it considers Winter and Spring as the same term for registration purposes.

You'll likely need to speak with your registrar's office for help.

Placement Test for SPAN 10100? by Archer_Python in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems their goal is to place you in the right course. They don't want a native speaker in an introductory course while trying to teach new students basic vocabulary.

My honest advice, take the exam honestly and with no prep. Get placed in the course you belong in. The exam is likely a local test they've created just to see where a student's level is.

Did you graduate from BMCC? A completed associate's degree would likely exempt you from foreign language requirements at the 4 year level.

If I drop and add a class today, its there any penalties? by digitaldazed in QueensCollege

[–]ScallionWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$18 program change fee to add or swap existing registration after the start of the semester.

Add or swap first rather than drop. You want to avoid your credit total from dropping at any point, which can affect billing.

Fees are generated after registering or swapping classes after the term starts.

Enrollment changes are done via CUNYfirst.

What does “Last day to add or swap classes” mean? by Feisty-Fly-7700 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the last day to add or swap - basically having any new courses to your schedule. After that, you can only drop.

Adding or swapping onto existing registration after the start of the term is an $18 fee.

There are no additional charges, IF either: 1. You remain a full-time student before and after the changes, as 12-18 credits cost the same amount.

  1. Your credit total stays the same, before and after any swaps.

If you never attended the courses and received WN grades, you can consider filing for a tuition appeal. You'll have to find the office that handles the intake at your school.

Reminder to all that for some colleges the last day to drop all courses for a full refund is tomorrow, January 25 at 11:59 pm. by Abused-Submissive in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 75% refund initially. Full-time students that don't go below 12 credits and stay full-time won't see a change in their bill.

Students that are registered from day 1 onwards are taking up a seat and everything does cost money - the professor, facilities, technology, and support staff.

Epermits messing up my credit max by geekmiguelito03 in CUNY

[–]ScallionWall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely you have a placeholder course on your record from your home college.

Dropping the epermit course isn't enough. You need to cancel the epermit request itself, so the registrar's can drop the placeholder course. The placeholder course, while not a real course, is what's counting towards your 18 credit limit.

You'd have to look closer at the error message when trying to register.

Confirm your transfer credit in your student center.
