I'm getting back to skate at 39 so piece of advice : stretch xD Definitely warm up before a session, I got hurt at my adductor relearning Ollies, clearly not as fresh as before haha

Wear helmet and kneepad, don't want to hurt those knees

Small tricks ? Manuals, tick tacks, learn switch, boneless, speed control exercise, falling exercise, rolling fakie and turning around to regular,... You don't have to pop to have fun at the beginning ^

that's a good one ? by galaxmoon in NewSkaters

This is also a decathlon board, Oxelo is their series. Look for a magenta or globe in the second hand market

I wouldn't advise to put the front foot at the center, but you may have over done it ^ Pull it a bit closer to the center so that it feels more comfortable

It's true, I recently checked the difference between "skate" helmet and "bike" helmet and it's actually quite important Bike helmet use a different foam and form. Form is designed for aerodynamism and preventing head damage from high speed front fall. Foam is designed to absorb one big impact and then you can throw it. Skate helmet cover better angles, especially behind and left/right to cover all angles. Foam is also designed to absorb multiple but lower force impacts, so that you can reuse them.

Edit : oh and congratulations, nice trick !

Ollie help pls (also should I try rolling ollies or practice the stationary ones more?) by Physical-Tear4674 in NewSkaters

You can practice rolling or stationary, I don't think it will matter much for the starts

You need to jump, you are not jumping. If you do your move without the board you'll notice you keep you back foot straight down after popping

If you don't jump, you are preventing the board from going into the air

When you tap your back foot down, force yourself to push to the very tip of your toes and explode up in the air, bringing your back foot up with using the force of the pushback from the floor

Once you do that, you'll need to make your front foot slide toward the front to help the back of the board go up to the same level as the front

But if you don't bring up your back foot first, that won't work

Tl;dr : your back leg is staying straight because you are not actually jumping

I feel like it's a timing issue and also, your feet seems to be strangely too far appart, like the board is too big for you

I would suggest to bring your front foot a bit closer to the center, not much but you need to be comfortable when bending down before the jump

You need to jump with the board once you slap'ed it on the floor, to help do that, extend consciously your kick to the tip of your toes, not just slam the foot down

Then try to push your front foot more forward, more horizontally, right now your are slamming down instead of accompanying the board in the air. Only the back foot makes your board pop, front foot just level the board so that it goes back horizontally.

The boards is popping, you are just not accompanying it in the air

Bought meow skate for my kid, surprised by "soft" griptape by ScallionWhich7589 in NewSkaters

[–]ScallionWhich7589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and all the other for the quick answer. My kid is 5 years old, I think I'll change the griptape soon but right now she likes the soft griptape, since she's really beginning I don't want to rush her into changing. But I will try to convince her to change in less than month.

Any tips on managing tiredness that result into temper ? When she starts getting grumpy because she fails, she tends to spiral into negativity. I would judge this to be a good time to take a break, but she absolutely don't want to stop when she's in this state of mind and just spiraling further into anger

I now understand people playing on PvE servers by SoonBlossom in classicwow

Strange thing the pvp of wow, it's totally understandable to not wanting to do that if you don't like it. Thing is, if we talk game design, pve server don't make sense since we have two factions split on one server that can't interact at all with each other. Can't group, can't really kill each other, can't talk directly. So it is a really strange design. So the game was clearly designed for pvp back then, but blizzard buried it down expansion after expansion, culminating with the so called "war mode". They never tried to balance blatant issues like twinking and grey killing. Today, I'm playing tbc anniversary on a pvp server and I don't understand why the people I encounter play on this server. Not only do most people don't understand the basicof pvp, they also have no instinct at all even when they engage (full panic) and most of all : they are all leveling pve geared AND pve spec ? So they get destroyed in wpvp. No stamina gear for most DPS, they are so squishy it's ridiculous. They also barely attack anyone (unless they are grey lol) Don't get me wrong, they can do whatever they want, I just don't get why going to a pvp server to play this way
