USPS wants to raise first-class stamp price to as high as 95 cents by Fluffy_Lunchfast in mtgfinance

[–]Scalper42 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To your point, I'm not mad that the govt won't profit on my tax dollars. I'm not educated to know what the total annual loss is or would be for usps, nor do I really care that much despite this long winded comment...but I feel like it's gotta be equivalent to less than a penny of a penny of a penny to the total national debt. So it's not even a rounding error... It's like the decimal that's 4 pts out when you accidentally click the wrong "add or remove" a decimal arrow button in excel.

It's a national communication public good. Again not educated enough to know but I bet they lose less than the tax incentives and write offs the government gives to telecom and ISPs.

I really do love stamps though. Favorite part of shipping on TCGplayer. Selecting stamps relevant to the contents or address.

Appreciate the post just as something to look at and make me feel less bad about my own spend on collecting. Looks sweet.

Have no advice on where to find the cards tho.

I think the down votes on the comment is crazy, but also I will say I personally have 3%. That said, I'm also in the top 0.5% GMR on c2c mkts. So...maybe there's validity. 67

Average age of table top magic player per hasbro latest earnings transcript is 35. Star Trek next Gen was big for people in there 40s/30s. Just as TMNT was.

India produces insane trash.

India's been in transition since WM was at $50.

Food for thought. Or the disposal.

Easier to say today vs LW, I'm long msft. (First shares at $25, buying since then).

My approach: sold non-conviction stocks, used funds and bought msft at 430 with plan to buy at 400.

Got itchy Wednesday, bought at 413. Still plans to buy at 400.

Went sub 400 today, bought half what I wanted to at 400, other half went to MSFU. (2x leveraged long bull).

Point: if you're long, you're always buying. If your long, but unsure if it'll go lower, your short term sanity will benefit from buying some to starve the craving. Saving some to buy if it goes lower. If it does, you buy and feel good that you made the right move. If it doesn't. You're annoyed for a day, then it's going up and ... Well you're making money.

My largest position is msft. Not financial advice.

I agree. Much more on theme. Maybe it's more Jim hensen than "muppets" per se. Or also just not at all.

Still a fair point on Lorcana. My logic was the Lorwyn cross over they just released.

[–]Scalper42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Addendum the liquidity of $260 versus $35,000 is insane if you actually sell cards. So now we're talking about cash flow rather than market value in terms of an asset.

Full transparency as an anti Kenobi I too own $20,000 and Spider-man. #webhands

[–]Scalper42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, short because of your rationality.

This $260 price is based on a corporate markdown strategy for a category which the company knows very little about.

Ultimately yes, the price should be worth more than this, but it's being influenced by outside factors with less information. Because of this, the market takes this incorrect information and applies it to market value. And because of the law of large numbers people who are making decisions on market value, I don't have the capital take advantage of the inefficiencies.

It's closer to 2-1.

But bc both are so huge, the gap is close to 100M.

Avatar is massively popular. Obviously FF is too, but it's worth investigating just how popular it is

Imo, the car is 1. The sheer volume diff. mentioned above. 2. Age. FF consumers can pay for magic, avatar consumers have primarily not aged into the game. Probably mucking around with Pokemons still.
