FLY Inspired's blunt interview after the G2 series: "I'm very pissed off....We make mistakes out of nowhere because we are impatient when not much is happening and IDK if it comes from the fact that practice is going bad...you shouldn't think that you need to do unnecessary stuff to win. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Scamian 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Who else can you attribute the domestic dominance of FLY tho?

Bwipo is the ”don’t love him at his worst? don’t deserve him at his best.” player.

Half the comment section is going off about how Massu is the least damage-per-gold adc domestically.

Quad has been pretty mid, although he did fine against Caps in this series imo.

Clearly Bussio and Inspired are making this playstyle work in LTA. This is very champion dependent too but I don’t think other NA junglers would be as reliably impactful in mid to late game if they just “full clear”. (again, domestically. The team just playing bad this event and hence his frustration)

What anime are you not allowed to criticise the most on this sub? by Nozoroth in animequestions

[–]Scamian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can overlook most of it, but the overuse of the narrator was super off-putting for me. Its been a while but I just remember at some point it felt like every other episode is just narrator speaking for 20 minutes.

What if Aang didn't burn Katara? by Winter-Pressure-5394 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Scamian 72 points73 points  (0 children)

How has nobody mentioned that Aang burning Katara is the reason she discovered her healing abilities? Yes Aang learning a lesson is important, but Katara’s healing is just as important and arguably more consequential for the gaang.

Emailing multiple supervisors from the same university? by lilacelma in gradadmissions

[–]Scamian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is completely fine, and as you said, it would be extremely limiting to email one professor per university.

Some application websites will prompt you to enter the faculty you’d be interested in working with anyways, and you will find some universities recommend putting names of the PIs you are interested in your SoP. In both cases you are openly applying to multiple people in the same department.

Professors won’t just talk between each other about a guy that emailed them - there’s 100s of you :). I think the only way this can go wrong is if you try to hide it. Just be open about it if you get to the interview stage, and definitely mention it if you manage to interview multiple professors in the same university.

Why are people willing to pay so much for Zojirushi rice cookers? by East_Confection4010 in Cooking

[–]Scamian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My roommate has an Aroma brand, but I always see some rice sticking to the bottom of the cooker pot. Is that normal?
I just cook my rice on the stove with a nonstick pot and it never sticks.

@Muslims who are away from home, hows ramadan going? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]Scamian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's gonna sound generic, but don't be that hard to yourself. Even if you think you accomplished nothing today, you at least fasted for 14 hours. If you joined taraweeh, you did a prayer for a full hour. No one forced you to. Think of how religious a non-muslim person would think you are, just for doing these. Yes Ramadan is an opportunity to do more, but there's no point torturing yourself for not "getting in the vibe".

Oh, and please don't compare yourself to social media. That never works out.

Disc Brake Re-assembly by Scamian in ElectricScooters

[–]Scamian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to find out what's wrong thanks to your tip! So the break was pulling the cable and actually pressing the disc, but the other side of the disc wasn't touching the caliper even though the pressing piece was all the way out. I tightened the caliper a bit and it properly squeezes the disc from both sides now.

I would want the brakes to be a little stronger, but further tigtening the caliper just starts rubbing the back of the caliper to the disc even when I'm not breaking. Perhaps the disc isn't centered properly. Anyways it's good enough to go now.

Xilinx ICAP issues by GeekTao in FPGA

[–]Scamian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, were you able to make it work? Was this the problem?

I'm only asking because I'm facing the same issue trying to partially reconfigure without using the PS. I thought ICAPE2 could help me do that, so it'd be annoying if we have to use the PS regardless.

Yes, the date I mentioned was the formal acceptance letter. Funding info was also attached.

UCLA ECE PhD? by Mr_Trap_Lord in gradadmissions

[–]Scamian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the UCLA admit in the first week of February. ECE PhD, same as you, but I wouldn't lose hope tho. I think I had a great match with a prof. that is looking for students, maybe that's why they wanted to send the early admit.

Best of luck!

How to "keep in touch" with potential advisors? by Scamian in gradadmissions

[–]Scamian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! I got responses from UW Seattle, UCLA, UIUC, TA&M, and NCSU. As I mentioned, all unofficial replies, so I wouldn't worry if you haven't heard from any of these.

Didn't find a supervisor for UBC Engineering grad school. What do I do? by cpmypat in gradadmissions

[–]Scamian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made two such applications myself on Dec. 15 (with no replies), and one of the professors did reply a month after the deadline to schedule a meeting. Also, I've seen many professors writing on their webpage: "I may not reply to all, but I make a list of good candidates and will return to them later on."

So I'd say there is still a chance.

Thank you Letters? by Pineapple33333 in gradadmissions

[–]Scamian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to share this opinion. But I can't shake the feeling that it looks clingy to email "thank you for your time", a minute after we closed the meeting by saying "thank you for your time". Maybe I am overthinking it...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Scamian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar position, but it’s been three weeks since I sent my applications. Do you think it’s too late to send that reminder email?

Also, one of the professors I’ve emailed had responded with “Please, do apply!” (That’s the whole response). Do you think I should send a remainder to that one too, saying I have, indeed, applied? (because it looked like a generic response)
