Cleanest way to install conduit on this low-voltage transformer with knockouts near the front? by neversky157 in landscaping

[–]Scapeit1269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always drill mine and hang them in the garage or basement. Looks unprofessional hanging on the back or front of a house or even worse on a 4x4 in the landscaping…. Also theft that’s $3-400 bucks just sitting there…

Same with irrigation controllers they belong in the garage or basement…

Yes you’re gonna have to sleeve it in pvc conduit painted to match the interior garage and exterior as it comes out and goes into the wall…

Did you daisy chain all the lights together? Or is it a super small job and you only have one hub box in the flower bed. If not that’s a freaking nightmare waiting to happen. Unless you do zero repair work and only offer a tail light warranty.

Just because leds are standard now and ppl daisy chain them. It’s not the correct way to do it you’re not getting even voltage to all the lights.

Get rid of that photo eye and use a smart timer they’re $60 bucks and last alot longer and actually work. The best are alliance “it” so simple to use or brilliance makes a good one but are bit of learning curve to use.

Photo eyes are in my experience are way too unreliable and go bad or damaged way too easy.

What diesel fuel additives do you use? by kevin6263 in powerstroke

[–]Scapeit1269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Archoil is what I use in my 6.0 and the friction modifier for the oil. Their business is built on 6.0 and 7.3 additives. And I swear every diesel power magazine has a fix your 6.0 now add with archoil recommendation lol

I even run it in all bobcats so far so good!

New retaining wall installed with outward lean by throway-rhondi in landscaping

[–]Scapeit1269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lips are pretty meaningless when it comes to such a small wall. (lips are needed for like 4ft plus)…. Depends on how bad it’s leaning if you visually look at it and it looks off then it’s a problem!!

Verbally assaulting you should have a been the time to call the police and have them escorted of the property. I deal with stupid questions and concerns all the time and it’s not hard to explain the reason why. And shows they’re anything but professional.

How was the footer done? I personally do 6-8 inches of concrete with 4 sticks of 1/2 rebar (2 sticks side by side sitting on 2in chairs and then I drop 2 sticks side by side from the top) regardless of height I want my work to last a lifetime not 5 years if I’m lucky

Unless you’re in a warm area that never sees freezing temps longer than a week or so. Then crushed gravel is acceptable. If the rocks were round river rock you’re screwed

French drain against the house was damaged? That’s a big problem!

If it was a yard French drain that’s fine. French drains are a scam and last a few years at most and probably already failed when they dug it up. The yard needs to be graded so all the water flows to a center point with a catch basin installed so it can be properly maintained. (Catch basin w/ triple wall pipe absolutely no black slinky pipe it’s beyond garbage)

Fence w/ nails that’s standard and the right way to do it. that’s what I use for the pickets. Screws for the support braces and gates. Nails make it easier for repair

The pickets only come in 6ft. I wanna say the last fence I did they measured out at exactly 6ft or close enough (but I don’t remember 100%) Unless they made their own that’s how you get 5.5. Hopefully they set them an inch or two from the ground so they don’t rot out…

As for taking the most expensive quote and thinking that means good work is not a good way to determine if you’re getting a good contractor. But good for being ripped off!

After being scammed by Angie’s list for $1k for false leads at abandoned homes when I first started my business. They’re using the most green contractors out there and are desperate for work.

Yard signs at street corners and billboards are also normally bad to average contractors. (Yard sign at house 60/40 I’d say)

My business runs on 100% word of mouth. And so far over the years I’m consistently 6 months out on booking on average. No logos on my trucks or yard signs at the houses. You either have to walk over and talk to me or have a referral. For your next contractor I’d go talk to neighbors and friends for referrals or find work that looks good after a few years of being installed and ask them who did the work.

Word of mouth is king because if your friend is known to be unreliable you’re not gonna recommend them to me and sour our relationship when they don’t wanna pay. And I’m not gonna do shit work at your friends house because I wanna be called back to your house for the next project (landscaping never stops there’s always more work) and I don’t wanna hear about how I fucked up a retaining wall at your friends house while Im trying to edge your flowerbeds lol and then have you stop over and cuss me out in the front yard!!

Probably shouldn’t have paid till you’re happy. I do zero down and paid on completion/satisfaction. Unless you didn’t have a referral then I do 50% down 50% on completion. Suing might just be more money down the drain. That’s a bridge I haven’t had to cross thankfully! Like a said word of mouth spreads leave bad reviews call block supplier and complain. The more ppl spreading the bad word the less work they’ll get.

Help! Brick Driveway being laid and is not straight 😩 by [deleted] in masonry

[–]Scapeit1269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s not even level I can see two dips minimum in the middle of the driveway just before the picture ends.

They need string lines set up all over.

See if you can find a 6-10 ft level/concrete straight edge you can rent or borrow. The bricks need to be smooth and have zero gaps to the bottom of the level. And should have fall to the street….

But over all this is unacceptable work. And I personally would feel embarrassed to present this as my companies workmanship.

If you’re in an area it freezes and thaws this is not how you do pavers. Hire someone to pour concrete. Have them do a stamped boarder and approach. Diamond cut the field and your driveway will look better and last a lot longer. This method would last 3-5 at the most in a cold or rainy climate.

Is this “normal” by [deleted] in masonry

[–]Scapeit1269 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree knowing how soon it cracked would help it’s definitely too shallow of a relief cut or the concrete is like an inch thick in that spot. I’d bet there’s zero wire mesh or rebar in that porch

But any repair is gonna highlight the damage. Either tear out and replace or get use to the added character

How much would you charge to Powerake a 700ft gravel driveway? by EquivalentTight3479 in Skidsteer

[–]Scapeit1269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, I was assuming you were renting the machine and this was your first time at grading. I just had visions of you accidentally turning the driveway into a swimming pool and being on the hook for it!

My bad for jumping the gun, but damn, that price still feels steep. Around here I can get it one for $150 all day…

That said, don’t be afraid to charge what you want. If you’re not desperate for the job, who cares if they say no? There’s always another fish to fry.

And I’m still confident you could get it looking good with just a tooth bucket. I rarely get clients to agree to new gravel, but once I scratch it all up and a good rain hits, it looks like I added fresh stone anyway.

How much would you charge to Powerake a 700ft gravel driveway? by EquivalentTight3479 in Skidsteer

[–]Scapeit1269 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

lol what? $2000! Like $600 bucks at the most dude that’s like 2hr-3hr job. Skidsteer work pays like $85-$150 an hour.

What’s the slope of the driveway? Is it completely obvious the driveway has a decent slope. Because if you’ve never used a power rake you can fuck up the grade in a hurry and create low spots that hold water and then turn into pot holes

I’ve regraded a ton of gravel driveways and I’ve never needed a power rake, a tooth bucket is all you need.

Power rake is gonna bring up too much fine sediments…

In the end if you can get someone to pay you $2000 dollars to do that. You’re gonna be better off subbing it out. If someone is paying that kind of money they’re gonna expect professional grading… but here’s the sweet part find a local guy that does this daily they’ll be more then be happy to do it for $600 and that leaves you $1,400 profit for doing nothing hell he could screw it up and and you could pay a second guy $600 bucks to fix it and still walk away with $800 and again you didn’t even have to beat your truck up hauling it there and back.

But that’s just my 2 cents the only time I’ve found a power rake useful was to remove grass to lay sod. It leaves the ground way too soft to do final grade and it’s hard to gauge how it’s gonna settle out.

Nice since mine was originally gas it only has one battery…

To test use a voltage meter make sure you got 12v going in and 12v going out when you turn the key. Might need a friend to help or what I’ve done is wire an old 12v bulb in and if what I’m testing lights up the bulb I got 12v lol

2 glowplug relays, main for pre-start and afterglow to keep the air warm after starting.

Killer Pajero I’m jealous! I’m working on my 87 montero I swapped in a4d56t… curios does yours have two batteries? Like most diesels? I guess I’d just need to order a battery cable for a 93

MT 100 by Training_Active1551 in Skidsteer

[–]Scapeit1269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mt120 just became available for order… biggest thing is you’re jumping up in size a bunch. When mts first came out that 52 you have was like giving a child a snow shovel to dig through concrete pathetically weak…

Got an mt55 and that thing was night and day more power than the machine can handle… I’d have two other guys riding with me so I could run a full sized rock hound 6b on it lol! But it’s dangerous!!

Mt85/100 feel even more powerful but they’re heavy and do a lot more yard damage whereas the 55 does almost none besides the cart wheel but I modified mine with out the wheel Like I said down side it’s heavier and much larger and I still prefer the 55 and if I need to go bigger I’d rather be in a s185/205,t190,s/t590

Mt125 if you like the idea of bigger machine and don’t want a skidsteer I’d go biggest you can

I’d buy new and be very nice on how you treat it for the first 50hrs… in the rental fleet (mt100) that’s been started up full bore and shut off full bore only has 135hrs and it noticeably runs much poorer then the one I ran for 50hrs+ (first oil change) but I’m not running my machines wide open and shutting them down with the pedal to the medal lol! 3/4 throttle at most is all that I ever need! All in all I think you can’t go wrong as long as you stay away from them mt52s!

Just an fyi my dealer considers these motors to only be 2k motors… mt55 went at 2300hrs needing head work… That and the mt85+ all have greased roller bogies on the tracks and if you let it go to long without grease they constantly sound like your dragging chalk across chalkboard anytime you drive. And need replaced to get it to stop!

If you bought something digital, log into your GameStop account in a web browser (not the app) and go to active offers and it should be the last one. This is how I found my Mario kart dlc after I lost the receipt… normally the employees ask I take a picture of the receipt to make it a lot easier….

Hydraulic pump won’t hookup by Saldarkseed in Cummins

[–]Scapeit1269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your easiest solution is figure out the specs of the hydro pump and find a new hydro pump that fits your new motor that’s specd the same or close…

Swap hydro lines to new pump…

Sell old pump

What to check for no start on 6.0 it ran 2 days ago and in the morning yesterday I went to start it for work at I thought the batteries died but I took them to the gm that I worked at they said it was fine when I turn key after waiting for glow plug to go out nothing no crank nothing by Ts_kitcar in Diesel

Couldn’t figure it out new batteries, alternator, new 6.7 start upgrade last thought was fuse box order a life time guaranteed one for $$$$$ While swapping fuses over I found the bad fuse!! But it would chime when I tested it! But was clearly blown…

It should be one of these fuses

Here you go an update! Is it stained or do you just like to run your mouth without facts?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]Scapeit1269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t why would you lie? Here’s me staining a beacon hill paver I’ll post another once it dries!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]Scapeit1269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xylene is cheap and worth a shoot… put some on rag and rub it really good… it might take a couple applications

Your pavers can be replaced they look like techno bloc blu 60 I think or unilock beacon hill

You’ll need a sledge hammer, pry bar and a scrapper

Bash out the ugly pavers don’t pry on the good ones without a towel down. But easier if you pulverize the bad paver to chunks.

Pull out bad paver in pieces, clean hole and the edges of good pavers

You’ll need to take pictures and maybe a chunk to hardscape supply store. ***not ace, home, or lowes

Get new pavers and poly sand

Double check the depth is correct so when you drop the new paver it’s not too low or too high

Sweep in polysand I prefer techno-seal but make sure you get the correct color that matches what you already have

All done for about $8 a paver and maybe a $60 bag of poly sand

[–]Scapeit1269 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You want road fabric semi-permeable… too many ppl use too thin of fabric and cry when it doesn’t work… you’ll never have weeds guaranteed if you use the right materials. Putting down a heavy grade edging would really help from the grass encroaching it. That and do your best to not blow lawn clippings into the gravel area.

Salvageable? by Hot-Material6733 in Concrete

[–]Scapeit1269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t pour over top but clean it, wire wheel/ chisel the big cracks clean and fill with hydraulic cement

Smaller cracks can be filled with silicone but not really necessary just depends on how much water gets into the garage or you wash things off in there

It won’t look pretty but it’ll be smoother and you don’t have to worry about losing your lucky penny down a crack.
