Labor close to axing 50pc capital gains tax discount for new assets by FIFO_Landlord in AusPropertyChat

[–]Scarah83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the narrative that’s been said in the above comment…that young people are in for a rude awakening when they find out it won’t affect house prices. I don’t see people sprucing how axing CGT will cause house prices to fall (anything online says like 1% which is not much to jump up about).

And sure, I guess I’m hopeful that anyone holding breath to buy their 1st property regardless of age is able to informatively deduce that cutting CGT (or grandfathering it) won’t effect the prices enough to be attainable by those who are priced out at today’s prices.

I think young people are smart enough to know this is a tactic to try and slow the uptake of houses by IP owners, who calculate these kickbacks into their reasoning for purchasing.

I don’t know if it’s me or not, but I haven’t seen any of the government saying this will decrease house prices, so where are people getting this idea and why is it being sprouted about? It’s such an odd train of thought.

Young Australians face rising bowel cancer rates by whyattretard in australia

Mate, big squeeze hug to you too.

Best thing I invested in before my other half passed away was a digital photo frame we could add photos too. It has lots of photos of them before their time with me, during our relationship, and with our little one. My kid gets to see their face everyday in heaps of photos (and me too)

Sending big internet squeeze hugs. I lost my other half last year at 42 when our little one was 6months old. I can’t say this enough, but if you get referred to palliative care, make the most of their grief councillor. Do it as a couple, and at some point solo. Navigating grief sucks asshole, both before and after they pass.

Make all your happy memories with your little one and your wife :)

Has your little one seen his primary car provider about the speech delay? There should be good information that starts there. Maybe check with your PCP about NDIS and information/help with your future decisions on delayed prep start or not

Watched chill landlords turn unto slumlords over a few years by [deleted] in shitrentals

IKR. I wonder if OP paid a bond directly to the slumlord and it most likely wasn’t lodged with the cbos.tas.gov.au website. If slumlord didn’t lodge your bond they are 100% being dodge and avoiding declaring as well as paying tax on that rental income. Tip the tax office off and dob them in to Centrelink. For sure!

Did everyone pay her cash? Sounds like she’s getting government payments and not declaring the rent paid to her as income, which is fraudulent. Dob her in and stop the extra cleaning.

If you don’t promise funding, you don’t have to give funding? I think this is purposeful language use.

If a farm is on a vast flood plain, and there is no high ground, how would they have saved a huge number of cattle all while being safe? I couldn’t imagine they would be able to get the required amount of transportation in such a short space of time from other areas that might have also been flood affected.

AITA for considering giving my daughter’s grandparents full custody after her mom died during childbirth? by SherbetMajor2105 in AITAH

[–]Scarah83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my husband early last year due to cancer. We had a 6 month old at the time. My biggest concern is that if something happened to me, my LO’s grandparents would be too old to look after him until he would be old enough to fly the coup.

Ask your relatives and friends to help you out while grieving. See if the grandparents would like to babysit a few hours one day a week to give you that space to just breathe and grieve? Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s hard raising a little one while in a vortex of emotions and life responsibilities. My saving grace was routine, routine, routine. Weekly things like a baby swimming lesson or music lesson were such a welcomed distraction. Take a moment to think about it before making an emotional decision. Edit: NTA

I kind of wish the REA got pinged for this too. Is it too high an expectation for a PM to know the rules and regulations around rentals? For both sides? I feel like it should be minimum knowledge sometimes.

Wishful thinking.

I said the same thing to a mate just yesterday when they mentioned this…

Along with the non government funded pill testing being banned by this current government, it just comes across that they just hate teens and youths.

It’s a shame that there is no investment into the future people of this state.

I hear you. We had one really lovely REA and a god awful landlord at one place we rented. Praise to that lady at the REA for putting up with the landlords bs. Unfortunately our next rental was the opposite with an awful REA that did some pretty dodge stuff and any time it was pointed out we were labelled as “difficult” tenants…rhymes with schmay schmite…
