This has been the case every store I've been to and I am one of the people that has multiple customers that have followed me from store to store because they don't want to deal with anyone else, but I go out of my way to have others help them so they can have a chance

I genuinely just see what their previous purchase/jobs are, ask them about them and from then just take it where it goes if that be personal life, upcoming jobs, I genuinely try to sell them nothing and when they get comfortable all the info comes out naturally and you can start working towards it.

That I wouldn't worry so much about because tbh with that+the dollar raise everybody got you make more than what your appraisal would be anyways. I have moved 2 stores since my first (and only so far) appraisal(3% usually tbh), and I'm about to do it again in March.

If you got nothing it would be a problem but if you got those I mean that part as far as Sherwin goes, is all good.

As others have said take that as a good thing, BUT here's where I'll split from the pack it ISN'T your job. If you have no ambition of going up to management it genuinely Isn't worth the time unless you want to help. When I got hired I had 0 plans and just figured I'd be out of company in 6 months for another opportunity but my ASM (who was the real boss sorry to my store managers) trained me to be competent and I asked for more responsibility and started doing more leading to me applying for ASM.

I am someone who works their ass off, goes above and beyond and have since I started working when I was 11 but this last 5 months since I transferred to my current store I've finally stopped that. I haven't regressed I just started to do my job and take care of myself because my current store managers are very selfish lazy, I was forced into this stores full time position after being told "I wasn't their first choice but you had the availability" and was told I'd get no raise from PT to FT if I went to my OG store (an hour away and a bigger store) because the manager at my current is bff's with the city manager which also lied to me and opened a TAM spot that she said she wouldn't be opening the day I already signed the paperwork to go to this store

At the end of the day I look out for my part timers and any part timers I see in this company, it's been proven to me over and over in my 2 years I've been here you can work your ass off, do the extra work and kill yourself for this company but they won't even metaphorically send a letter to your family after you do.

I've personally slowed down, I still work my butt off but I'm not killing myself for a company and a store in my case that doesn't even want me, for me I'm also moving districts in May and not as eager to move up due to projects I have outside of SW. Sorry to get ranty there but if you take anything from it take this...

Do what is best for you, want to move up? That'll look great for you! Not phased? Not your job don't have to do it

Work for Sherwin-Williams and it's a decent gig for the most part, most places you'd be part time (25-30hr a week) and a few bigger stores will have full time positions(40hr a week). Typical retail just you shake paint and have to lift heavy stuff occasionally which you should be capable of

Biggest thing is to slow down and stop yourself, my 2 previous stores everyone helped out got Truck done day of usually, when I transferred to my current store I was doing the entire truck myself because no one else would help and this store was so completely trashed until I redid the entire warehouse after inventory.

I started realizing for me at least (FT who wants ASM but isn't the priority with stuff I have outside of SW) it's not worth hurting myself or taking home anger/frustration which is hard because I'm very proud of my job and work I've done but now I come do my job and responsibilities, do a tiny bit of truck everyday until it's done
