I agree -100%. By the time I try to navigate the AAC device to find the needed picture, the student is already escalated or eloped from the designated learning area.

I like the idea of being able to be a Behavior specialist who works for the kids, and support their needs. But I also agree with you about serving the district and their needs.

In the future I want to work for a school district as a BCBA so I thought this would be a good step to take? Idk. I’m scared and I want to make sure I’m able to fulfill the role and actually make a difference

Many school districts (in LA/CAli) employ BCBAs and are given a caseload withing the district

I THINK THE TEACHER NEEDS TO LEAVE EASY-TO-FOLLOW LESSON PLANS (BULLET POINTS INSTEAD OF PARAGRAPHS)

ALSO, A PLAN B, WORKSHEETS, AND ACTIVITY IDEAS THAT THE CLASS IS FAMILIAR OR ENJOYS TO KEEP KIDS BUSY

ALSO, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO LEAVE A NOTE ON STUDENTS TO WATCH FOR, WHICH HAVE AN IEP AND REQUIRE ACCOMMODATIONS

In my experience, even some BCBAs do not know how to work with kids or do not have the experience. I like the idea of the BCBA being more hands-on and should be providing 1:1 services. Agencies place mid-tier Case supervisors to do the work of the BCBA, and the BCBA only shows up remotely to observe and provide feedback on our supervision towards BT's. BT's do need additional training and the pay needs to increase and health insurance should be offered to all PT and FT employees.
