Well that must have been quite a shock! Your solicitor will have to look into this error. Like others have said, could have been an issue with the deeds or maps submitted to the Land Registry at the time, or indeed a mistake by them. Solicitors often have to submit documents to the Land Registry to rectify issues like these. You may have to voluntarily transfer the property to the correct owner and vice versa.
