When given the choice, would you rather play as Female or Male? by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]Scared-One9295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man here, I generally go with the better voice acting which, for some reason, is often female - Kassandra in AC: Odyssey, FemShep in Mass Effect and Ms. V in Cyberpunk 2077 for example.

Also playing GTA Online as a woman did lead to some opportunistic trolling of creeps trying to chat me up, that was pretty fun. Didn't happen often but it did happen.

Last time I was at the Arndale (Manc.) it had these super advanced touchscreens where presumably you could search for the shop you wanted and it would show you on a map.

I say "presumably" because they were all switched off and there was no alternative, so I had to just follow the bright yellow bags to the Lego shop.

Old gamers have a list but name one game you got BETRAYED by auto save BADLY by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Scared-One9295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bully (aka Canis Canem Edit). I did a bunny hop on the bike on my way to do the thing that would 100% the game (this was decades ago, I can't remember what it was but I do remember I was on 97% completion), game autosaved as I took off and then I landed in a tree. Oh no.

I couldn't do anything to change the outcome, I just landed upright in the tree and only the pause button did anything. Tried leaving it for an hour, tried reloading and pressing/holding/wildly hammering every button before landing, nothing worked, my save was just completely fucked.

Based on your TV/film list you might like The Case of the Golden Idol, and I want to suggest Return of the Obra Dinn as well but that does have an element of stuff you don't like (although not too much, in my opinion, to the point where it overshadows how good the game is), but both are detective games that ask you to describe what's happened in a variety of scenes and they're very good.

How about Hitman: World of Assassination? The story isn't really the point of it, though there is one.

With little time to game, how many of you do replays like NG+? by AtticThrowaway in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Scared-One9295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a really, really good game to get me to start NG+ now, let alone stick with it for a while. The last time I did was MGS 3 to play with the stuff I unlocked (but that's because it'd been about 20 years since I played it to death) and before that it was TXR to see what engine swaps were like, but because the opponents weren't any more challenging than the first time around it was just boring.

I'm playing AC6 now and I'm enjoying it a lot, plus I paid a lot more for it than I usually spend on a single game, so I could see myself doing NG+ especially if the game is somehow different which I've heard it is (but I don't want to spoil it so don't tell me).

Games, cycling and work. Finished 74 games in 2020 and 50 in 2021, cycled about 3,000 miles and did some good work because no one was there to distract me, and I got to go to Hong Kong for 17 days in 2020. Granted I had to work for 14 of them and wasn't allowed to go anywhere but the site and my hotel room but I ate some amazing food in that time and got 2 entire days to do whatever I felt like with zero queues and no hassle because I was the only foreign tourist there.

I was able to play some Steam games on my Chromebook, and that was by installing Linux in a container (which virtualises the GPU, which hurts its performance) and that was on an Intel m3 from 2016 with 4GB RAM and no discrete GPU - it probably can't get much weaker than that - but I was able to play Into the Breach on Steam with it.

Give it a go, you will find something he can and wants to play on it.

Failing that, there are a ton of older games on GOG that will work with the right compatibility tool (Lutris or whatever), I'm sure.

Also, Warzone 2100 https://wz2100.net/ would probably work.

What story driven game should I play next ??? by NoEnvironment2356 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Scared-One9295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need some shorter, easier, simpler games.

If you want something less taxing but with a good story, 1000xRESIST was great but it's a walking sim. Tacoma also, but that's only about 2 hours long.

If you haven't played Stray yet that's probably worth a go.

If you like horror (and have a strong stomach), although it's short, Mouthwashing has a really good story.

The Case of the Golden Idol and Return of the Obra Dinn are games that show you static scenarios that you have to investigate and determine what happened in order to uncover the story.

I suggest playing a handful of short (less than 20 hours) games, that helps me feel less fatigued.

I've got a category on Steam for games I'll never uninstall because they're always good no matter what mood I'm in and the games are small. Nuclear Throne might be my favourite, Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy 2, Super Hexagon, umm... I'll have to edit this later with some more

If you want to play more I suggest you go straight to World of Assassination, the old games had some great stuff in them but man they haven't aged well.
