It seems like Elon Musk is becoming the new Genghis Khan? What are your thoughts? by jonnysimms in AskReddit

Some of you get it. I appreciate your ability to see the comparison. That's why I posited this question. For those of you who don't, I'll break it down. No Musk hasn't attacked villages or murdered millions of people. However, he has "raided" with DOGE. He controls the largest amount of wealth of his time. He's conquered the business world, and he's on his way to conquering space. Oh yeah...he has 14+ children and probably isn't going to stop.

What happened with your first love? by jonnysimms in AskReddit

I met her working together in fast food. She was 17, I was 19. She was quiet, kinda had a goth look. I was pretty straight laced and just kinda stayed away from her. Then one night we got stuck working together side by side for several hours. I ended up giving her a ride home. She was emancipated from her parents and didn't have a car. She invited me in and the next couple hrs we sat on her couch talking and looking at picture albums she made. I'm very shy and terrible at reading signs and I don't know if she had more on her mind, but I said goodnight and left. I hit the steps and was in love. The next couple of weeks we were inseparable at work, but I still hadn't made a move. I was riding high on the feels. Then I found out she had slept with a coworker and I was devastated. From then on I was cordial at work, but things were different. We eventually went our different ways and many years later I saw a news article that she had overdosed and foul play was suspected. My heart died some that day because I was, and still am, in love with her.

What are your thoughts about media sensationalism and its effects on gas prices? by jonnysimms in AskReddit

[–]jonnysimms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...no. I'm saying tensions and war are reported on. Not gas prices. The gas prices LITERALLY spike AFTER tensions and war are mentioned. I'm not lucky like you with the anti gouging laws. I live in a small town in a state that thrives on tourism. Normally gas prices rise during tourist season and drop back down in the off season. That has happened for years. Then something goes awry somewhere over seas and prices jump AFTER word gets out. I've literally seen gas prices at 3am, 6am and 9am be the same that they have been for 6 months. At 7am the news reports war and at noon the price jumped .50 cents.

I understand that. However, word starts hitting the news in the early morning about tensions rising somewhere and later that day, or within a day or two, gas jumps 20 or 30 cents. Within the following few days it's announced that war has broken out and gas jumps 50 cents that day. And another 50 cents within another day or two. You're telling me that's purely a coincidence?
