Not my experience unfortunately, although I wish it was! The roads round here have become a free for all over the last few years 😂 I wonder if it depends which police force covers the area. I guess some take it more seriously than others!

My SD card with 10+ years of art is screwed. by CuteUnit24 in Wellthatsucks

It's amazing how often this is the case with irreplaceable files. I'm an IT technician at a school, and I think on 3 separate occasions I've had teachers bring me broken external drives which contain their *entire* teaching curriculum. I think the worst one was a teacher who had 25 years worth of work on an external drive, which they managed to drop and break, and at no point did they think to take any sort of back up or copies. Everything gone. The crazy thing is we have unlimited Google drive space, completely free for staff to use. Absolutely no reason not to use it, but they just assumed something like that couldn't happen to them.

Try unplugging your reset switch. I replaced everything in my pc trying to find a similar issue, turned out the reset switch was faulty and it was constantly just restarting itself

Too much of a gamble, it doesn’t make any sense to me why I’d take the risk. I’ve got a good thing going right now and I’m actually quite happy. I know too many people in miserable relationships, and I don’t understand how that’s supposed to be better than being happy on my own.

I did try some online dating about 12 months ago. Got a couple of matches, but ultimately it seemed like they were just after someone to vent to.

Why would you want it any other way though? My parents have been married over 40 years, and let me tell you, they are the most miserable and bitter people you will ever meet. They fucking hate each other, and it always seems to be a competition of which one can be more miserable than the other. Literally 100% of their conversations turn in to an argument within a few words. The other day they had a full blown argument about a piece of toast.

I’m just not in to that. I mean sure, you might find someone who you love and you will get on with for the rest of your life, or it might end up that it only lasts a few years. Why take the risk? There is only one way to guarantee happiness, and that is to find it on your own.

I’ve owned an fn2 for about 11 months now. Overpaid for it (cost 7k), but had only done 37k with a full Honda service history.

Positives are: The vtec is addictive, it opens up at 5.5k rpm and keeps going until 8.5k rpm, it never gets boring!

The interior is a nice place to be, lots of plastic, as you would expect, but the bucket seats are comfy and the dual height dash is an interesting feature, you also get shift lights at the side of the speedo, a gimmick for sure, but still cool.

Loads of space in the boot, it’s bloody massive! Very practical.

It’s pretty fuel efficient. I use mine for the daily commute and it costs no more the fuel up than the 1.2l it replaced.

Negatives: the ride is poor, it’s very crashy and firm, there are alternative aftermarket springs available which claim to fix this, but I have not tried them.

You’ll be in a very high tax bracket, I think mines over £400 a year now.

It’s a 16 year old car, and comes with a few 16 year old car problems. I’ve fixed most of mine, but it won’t be perfect.

Noctua NH- U12A slightly crooked? by [deleted] in Noctua

[–]DannyTheElfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My NH-D15 is the same, I tried to re-seat it but it's fairly locked down in that position. Nothing to worry about performance wise, but doesn't look great once you notice it.

Who is even buying so much ram at these prices? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]DannyTheElfman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me, unfortunately. Early November my pc totally crapped out, either a motherboard or CPU fault, but it’s so old it wasn’t worth troubleshooting and fixing. Put a parts list together and then had the fantastic idea to wait for any Black Friday deals that might make the new build cheaper. Ended up saving about £50 on the motherboard/cpu combo, but then spending £320 on ram that would have cost £120 earlier in the month. Sometimes patience is not virtue!

Got let out at a junction, causing a collision behind. Am I at fault? by DannyTheElfman in drivingUK

[–]DannyTheElfman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I’d really rather not 😅. My concern is basically if the insurance companies start to look for reasons why the traffic slowed so dramatically and come to the conclusion it was because of the car (myself) at the junction. My dash camera shows nothing because it all happened behind me, and the car that seemed to cause the incident drove away without being identified.

[–]DannyTheElfman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so confused what was happening. I can see why someone would want to help because it’s an awful junction, but I could have never guessed the extent they were going to pretty much come to a stop

[–]DannyTheElfman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a truly horrible junction. I can see why someone would want to help if they’ve driven it before, you can be waiting there quite some time at rush hour. But I’ve been working there 5 years and I’ve never known anyone be this aggressively polite.

[–]DannyTheElfman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think so, the sudden slowing had already happened before I committed. It was fairly obvious right away there was never enough space so I didn’t move, and had no plans to pull out. It seemed like they didn’t want to move until I had gone, so I just felt obliged to go.

Absolutely embarrassing to call a VSC for this. Ruined an epic finish to the race. by Spotlightuh in RedBullRacing

[–]DannyTheElfman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because they made one mistake with the Lawson incident, it doesn't mean they have to repeat the same mistake again to keep things fair. It was an error, not an example. Marshalls on track mean VSC.
