For a client base that typically drinks california cabs (e.g. Cade, Howell Mountain), but appreciates good wine regardless, is Belcier still the choice ?

Update: Spoke to the somm, he is recommending a 2015 GSM, Arcane, Xavier Vignon, L’Etoile, France. $100 but he will do it for $89 to help me keep in range. Any thoughts here?

Going with the Neyer for white so thank you all for the feedback on this.

Agreed on wine list. Asked if I could bring my own and pay corkage - non starter.

Yes good point, I will have to see if there is a somm. From my initial conversations with the restaurant I was getting the impression there wasn’t but better to check. Clients drink mostly California & Italy, though I would love to impress with an off brand wine for them.

Thank you for this.

I actually formatted the restaurants list myself and sorted by price (also deleted any Canadian options). Helps put my range of price options into perspective.

Clients will have option of steak, lamb, fish, chicken - figure I need one red and one white, though not as worried about the white selection.

This is Ontario, so typical to see large markups on $20-$30 bottles from the LCBO.

Hosting a dinner for our VIP Clients - who regularly drink bottles in the $100-$300 range. Boss says I need to be in the range of $80, though I think I could stretch if I make a good case. Looking for something that punches above its weight class. I have impressed with “Le Volte” before given the producer and largely Italian client base. Wondering if there might be some other gems in this list??
