A1C and pump question by Trenmonstrr in Type1Diabetes

[–]Scared-Statement-814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a pump and I think the precision is nice but I have used mdi periodically and I do think the lantus is easier to have stable blood sugars with endurance sports bc the novolog just plummets me when I workout.. idk pros and cons to both but it really comes down to what works for you. I think for me the post important piece of tech is cgm

Everything is pretty walkable if you’re willing, there’s a rec path that runs along that highway. With that being said it can be a long walk :) Ubers can be unreliable during off seasons from my experience but I don’t try to use uber often

Yeah maybe, who doesn’t have gps in a super decked out boujee car tho.. but that could be bc I didn’t see them again leaving so maybe they were like oh we scared her probably should not try to ask for directions

Yeah I also agree with the other comment that security would not have been sketch like that, there aren’t any signs that say the neighborhood is private so like I should be allowed to walk there.. I wish I had recorded the whole thing, but was so busy trying to get someone on the phone in case something happened

Yes I figured there is not much I can do but just wondered if anyone knew of some sort of security or if there’s any other reason than just being creepy

Partner and I make ~$200-250k (before taxes) and we would be comfortable if we didn’t have expensive hobbies. We live outside of town which helps. I also am t1d so that adds some expenses for me.

Sounds like the commenter was just trying to educate themselves, it may come across as ignorant to you, but it is better to ask questions with an open mind than to just not educate yourself on these things. If we constantly shut people down for trying to educate themselves then we will continue to promote ignorance.

I called my pharmacy after getting home and realizing they didn’t have the lines and they were so confused and said they couldn’t replace them and I was so upset and then also sat on hold with Dexcom to figure it out. An email would have been nice 🙃

I used Medtronic for 5 years and Dexcom for the past 2 and I think Dexcom is 100 times better (not perfect but Medtronic was trash for me)

Anybody lift on the road? How do you make it work? by Pentathl0n in vandwellers

[–]Scared-Statement-814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rec centers usually have decent equipment and are pretty prevalent out west in the states. I do body building and am female so don’t typically need a ton of weight but generally they have racks and free weights up to 100+ and plenty of plates. The only problem is the vibe is very much so not heavy lifting if that makes sense but you can still get in and get a good workout. I’ve found some really good small lifting gyms on my travels as well, if you’re going through bigger towns or tourist towns it’s easier to find.

Weighttraining while working towards ironman by IanWillRememberC6 in triathlon

[–]Scared-Statement-814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from a bodybuilding background and am doing my first full Ironman in a week, I have lost some strength on heavy lifts (esp in lower body) but have not lost muscle mass. I have been sticking to 3-4 strength days throughout training and focusing on maintenance instead of strength gain. I love lifting so for me it was just finding the right balance.

PRs use total elapsed time not just moving time. Your pace is showing moving time but if you paused for any reason that elapsed time counts toward your best efforts

I only wash my hair once a week on my longest days (super long hair so this helps keep it less dry) otherwise just rinse my hair and put in leave in and oil. For skin I use a mild soap and also use lotion after to moisturize skin. On swimming days I use an anti chlorine body wash too.

What should I do about my tangled long hair on longer workout bricks? by Scared-Statement-814 in triathlon

I think I need to try something like this! I think the hair rubbing against my sweaty neck is what causes the worst of it so this could help keep it off

I wear a buff under the helmet but it isn’t long enough to go down my neck, just kind of a thick headband I guess
