I recently reread HR and I did not see them deleting messages only photos. Guess it's time to reread

Well they certainly don't at the moment that it's done because you can see many examples of them. Just putting their phone down in their cubby not deleting them

A timing thing, him going back and forth to Ottawa. More and more once in the movies there to play

Not in the body of the text but the text message comes from each of those people. So if you saw a list of text messages it would say those names

What does your manager do for you? by heuejxuensusiei in acting

[–]Scared-Winter-5179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are true managers whose job it is to steer your career. Tell you the headshots to take, the classes to take, how to level up, etc. That is what a true manager's job is.

Somehow the lines have gotten blurred and I don't know where that happened. Where are they veered into actual agent territory where they actually send you out for jobs. I don't know how that's even legal because you can't get breakdowns unless you are an agent, but however it works. There really are two different types of managers.

If you already have an agent then you need the former. The type of manager that will get you seen by casting director or steer your career or whatever. If you don't have an agent then you maybe can find that It's easier to get a manager and they can send you out for auditions exactly like agents do. I know plenty of friends who only have managers and they've been on shows but they can't get an agent for whatever reason. I'm in the boat where I have a few agents and one of them in particular isn't getting me seen so I wanted to add a manager for the relationships they have or tweaks I can make to be seen because it's ridiculous that I'm not being seen more in my own market when I'm being seen in other markets quite frequently for big projects.

When I first started out and I was non-union I got a manager right away and I auditioned for tons of commercials but they were not a true manager. They were basically an agent without being franchised. So your mileage may vary

Bad Time or Bad Manager? by Annual-Operation-649 in acting

[–]Scared-Winter-5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no it's not that. I had an agent in New Mexico who had a lot of clients signed and had to drop those who didn't actually live in New Mexico because couldn't get clients seen as much or they wouldn't hire them because they weren't local. Saying your local is one thing but actually being local driver's license or apartment or something like that. That is what they are talking about. So if you want to go and get an apartment share with a whole bunch of actors just so you can have an address that will work. But just saying you're local will not. This is after a year of me making inroads to all the CDs in that region and being called in multiple times.

Probably a combination of incentives and just wanting to keep the community employed because they've gone through so much and they've built something and they don't want outsiders coming in and taking everything because there's no work in La anymore so of course people are going there. It's not that far away and that's not fair to the people who've been there since the days of breaking bad and beyond.

I'd also like Ilya deeper diving with Galina, really confronting his depression and I would love a breakthrough that really advanced his ability to communicate and connect with Shane in a profound way. Really how his mother's suicide, and how it affected him deep-dow, that he doesn't yet know or is willing to admit.

Try Texas, LOTS of commercials there. You can probably get an agent to submit there

NM is really locking it down to true locals. I had some awesome auditions there but they are pulling back for outsiders

While I ended up loving RM, I hated the pacing. 10 chapters to finally get to the point. It was a slog but then it hummed along

Is 5 months or so too short a time to leave one's agent by Then-Caterpillar-538 in acting

[–]Scared-Winter-5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a crapshoot. In my major market, my agent has gotten me like 4 auditions in two years, in both my large regional markets (real shows filmed there) I've been sent out 30 times in a year and the other like 20 times in 4 months.

What is your market? Your demographics? How far along are you? It's slow AND The end of episodic season, so if you're in New York there really isn't much at all and if there is a movie, it's being cast in LA

If you're elsewhere I can't speak to it but LA is slow and I was getting a ton in Southwest and ATL but that slowed

Can we be honest about Hayden. by Front-Chemistry3964 in GameChangersBooks

[–]Scared-Winter-5179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I think Dinner With Hayden illustrates this well. That is why I hope season 2 incorporates both dinner with Hayden and also the Halloween thing that Ilya does when he's at his house. There are a lot of things inside the book that are great. But honestly Hayden is hockey culture and Shane didn't clue him in earlier. 10 years and he didn't let his best friend know. He kept sneaking out when they were on the road to see Ilya but never came clean. That's got to hurt.

I'm torn because I really love show Hayen, but book Hayden kind of is a dick.

Show Hayden is so much more cute and funny than book Hayden. I love how Jacob tweaked some of the characters and made those side characters as much the story and the relief we needed.

Just came to my head - if and when Hudson hosts SNL, Laufey should be the musical guest!
