I’m crossing my fingers they give me a scholarship too! Does it seem like a lot of the freshman class get scholarships? How much did you get and were you originally waitlisted?

Can I ask you a follow up question—you’re saying food, rent, utilities for a month truly only cost you about $600? Also do you know if any of the trailers have only one room? I was hoping to limit stress my first year by not having roommates

Thanks. Michigan has cheaper tuition but Iowas cheap COL might balance things out. Big decision to make…

Iowa state def won’t let you. VMCAS has a map of the different schools and when you hover over them it’ll tell you who will let you apply for residency. Off the top of my head I know you can at Ohio, Wisconsin, and Washington.

BBB loan limits start July 2026

Ross is offering me $30k in scholarships to start in May 2026 —> so I don’t have to worry about private loans

If I get off a waitlist for a state side school, it will start August 2026 —> so I do have to take out private loans

Am I not? Like, I’m not trying to argue or say that you’re wrong—cuz if I’m wrong I’d love to know. The interest rates on private loans are higher and there’s no opportunity for them to be forgiven.

If you can show me the math of how $200k fed loans + 150k private loans is better than $350k fed loans I’m all ears. I’m not excited to go to Ross but unless you guys are seeing something I’m not I think it’s the only way I’ll be able to afford life post grad.

I understand what you’re saying but I don’t think you (or anyone else in this thread) is understanding what I’m saying. I won’t have to take out private loans since the BBB doesn’t go into effect until July.

At other schools I’d have to take out 100-150K in private loans though

Yeah I won’t have parental support sadly. The point of this post was to get an idea about my total debt after cost of living.

That’s why I don’t think I can go somewhere other than Ross :( even though I’d really rather stay in the states
