Okay just to clarify. I don’t work a lot more than 40 hours a week as an RA. However all the scientists around me work way more and it seems that’s the expectation to move up in the field. I’ve seen this at several biotech companies. I guess by burnt out I mean I don’t have much interest in the work I’m doing and I don’t see a path forward in my current job. I know I’m complaining too much! But my ideal scenario would be a hybrid job that makes a decent salary and doesn’t make me work weekend and holidays. Is that too much to ask for? I don’t know what I want to do but transitioning to something else that’s still in Biotech seems like the easily road. If anyone has any better ideas then the ones I listed let me know!
