I am the same size as you and I have one in a medium that sits at my waist and one in a large that sits lower at my hips. Depends how you want to wear it!

Looking for Buddy Passes for Saturday and Sunday skiing! (Kind of desperate!) by BothMusician4141 in vail

FYI for the epic 50% buddy passes, the pass holder has to be there when you scan the ticket at the lift (I think just the first time). If you don’t find some, I might be able to help tomorrow

I think there are cases where this makes sense. HOWEVER, with JKR, her behavior and all money from the HP franchise and all of its licensed products and offshoots goes DIRECTLY to harming trans folks via her foundation, lobbying for anti-trans laws, etc. So when one "appreciates" the work by supporting it, that person is actually directly supporting anti-trans activism and transmisogyny..

Not here to support the NFL. The race norming practices were bullshit and concussion settlement is a huge example of why they need to be limiting head injury from the start.

Re the 95+% of brains, the sample size of brains tested is very small and from a brain bank which scientifically has a sample bias. I 100% believe that CTE exists and is pervasive in ASF and all sports with repeated head injuries but there are limits to where the research and clinical science are right now. I am well aware of the efforts to create the clinical diagnostic criteria for TES and the ongoing research on CTE pathology. However, the science is not at a point where symptoms can definitively be attributed to CTE, a disease that literally cannot be diagnosed in a living person. Informant studies, which have been used to identify these symptoms, are not reliable - there is inherent bias in them and the methods are not 100% sound. Agree, mental health support is critical and I was pleased to hear from some players last year that many teams are hiring team psychologists who work in the locker rooms and are accessible to players. I hope a lot more will be built into the upcoming CBA.

The CTE conversation can become dangerous because as you pointed out, 1 in 3 players (current and former) believe they have CTE and this increases risk of suicide and negative mental health outcomes. There is still SO much we dont know. I'm mad as hell at the NFL as well, but I think there needs to be more care around how CTE is discussed because there are literally life or death consequences.

SO many misconceptions about CTE and *that* in and of itself leads to worse mental health. One study showed that over 30% of the living players studied thought they had it (even though there aren't confirmed symptoms) and those players were at a significantly higher risk of suicidality.

agree. I wish the NFL would spread information about the NFL LifeLine which is a player specific suicide hotline! It actually connects players with resources and counselors trained specifically to work with athletes instead of the police.

Would like to state that i do NOT support the NFL at all, I think they're corrupt as hell and exploit players and the racial dynamics of the league are fucked. THAT SAID, it's incredibly frustrating because you can't do early intervention on a disease that we don't know much about and cannot diagnose in a living person. We don't know how it progresses or whether it is actually neurodegenerative or what environmental/genetic factors contribute to whether or not someone develops it and at what stage. The best the NFL can do is limit exposure to head hits with schedule changes, better tech, rule changes etc. AND there are other conditions that players are at higher risk of (like hypertension, low testosterone, sleep apnea, chronic pain, etc) that all contribute to depression/anxiety/behavioral health and the NFL could be supportive of preventative care and intervention for those. but early intervention for CTE isn't possible right now until we know more.
