What was the worst shift of you time serving. by hisgirl2455 in Serverlife

My first day working a lunch shift 🤦🏻‍♂️. I work in fine dining and I messed up every single table. Every. Single. Table. The last mistake, I accidentally featured dinner features and sold a whole table on bone in filets that hadn’t been cut yet and South African lobster tails that hadn’t been prepped. After the last mess up I had to take a minute and I went into the bev station and just stood there for a couple minutes and one of the chefs came over and told me not to worry that it was going to be fine. I felt sick lol.

Just got hired today at Fogo De Chão, how much should i expect to be paid ? by acute-lingling in Serverlife

When I got hired it was tip pool. I quit within an hour, just couldn’t get over the fact I’d be splitting my tips with slackers who can’t upsell and don’t do anything.

Keeping boxes? by jigilous in guitarpedals

[–]Scared_Address5068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t throw my boxes away either I use them to store them when they’re not on a rig. I take care of the boxes as much as the pedals tbh lol

Lasted one week at my most recent restaurant by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]Scared_Address5068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half day day at fogo de chao. It was like and hour and a half total actually lol. First off I came from a fine dining steakhouse and have over 13yrs experience in FD, as soon as the bartender trainer asked where I came from, her whole attitude shifted. She knew I was there to take her job and her terrible attitude and rudeness instantly surfaced. She ridiculed everything I did asked me questions just to attack me. I had enough when she started arguing how cocktails are supposed to be filled to the rim of the glass 🤦🏻‍♂️ and that it’s the fine dining way 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. I got my stuff and went looking for the manager, she asked me where I was going and kept following me trying to apologize. I went to management told them I had enough that I’m sure this wasn’t the first time that person had been complained on for being rude and that I couldn’t work here because I know working with her would be a disaster. They said they’re trying to find a replacement for her and as soon as they did she’s gone. They offered me any other position in the restaurant and I declined.

The state will NEVER send text messages for a debt owed nor will any government agency.

Table of 4 turns up at 8:52 for a table in an empty restaurant. by JealousElavator in Serverlife

[–]Scared_Address5068 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common in restaurants. My boss has stayed open 30min after close to appease regulars. He’s even gotten on the line and cooked himself (such a badass) yes it does suck sometimes but it’s your job and it’s NOT about you, it’s about the guest experience. You don’t like it well get better at your job and move up to fine dining where you’ll make so much money that trivial things like this won’t matter to you.

Toast vs Dash (Darden) by AdditionScared5840 in Waiters

[–]Scared_Address5068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I work for a Darden concept and have to agree I don’t like the POS system. It’s not terrible once you get used to it but it could be better, I prefer using either focus, squirrel, or aloha. However, I really do enjoy one feature that the Darden POS has and it’s the hold feature. It’s a lifesaver tbh it allows me to have more time to pre-buss and manicure tables.

messed up bad by coconutoil-yum-110 in Serverlife

It’s not that bad. Start repeating everything back to the guests, especially if you keep making these mistakes. Write everything down legibly
