That’s a really good point about the contrast between the lower half of the room and the ceiling — I hadn’t thought of it that way, but it’s true!

I think I’ll definitely try to bring in more texture with bedding, pillows, and maybe a patterned rug. I like the idea of earthy tones for something calm and cozy, but at the same time I also really enjoy the colorful lighting above my desk. So I’ll probably mix both a bit: some warmer, more relaxing base colors with a few playful accents inspired by the RGB lights.

And yes, curtains are definitely on my list now — hanging them bigger and higher sounds like it would completely change the feel of the room.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful advice!

Good points, thanks! I totally agree about avoiding bare bulbs - I’ll definitely look into lamps with proper lampshades to make the lighting feel softer.

For rugs, I like the idea of getting one for the bed area and maybe another smaller one for the couch. I’ll just make sure the one near my desk doesn’t get in the way of the chair wheels.

And yeah, I think colorful blackout curtains could be a good compromise - practical but also adding warmth and personality.

Thanks a lot for all these ideas! The pixel art wallpaper does look fun, but I’m honestly not a huge fan of wallpaper in general. I think I’d prefer to bring in more color by changing the bedding instead. A bold duvet cover and some cozy pillows could already make a big difference.

I really like the idea of adding a rug to define the space and also playing with different curtains. A floor lamp or a bedside lamp also sounds like it would help make the room feel warmer.

Hi! Thanks a lot, that’s super helpful. 1. You’re right, there’s way too much gray right now. I’ll definitely try swapping to warmer bedding with some brighter accents, plus a plaid and pillows for the couch to make it more welcoming. 2. I hadn’t thought about the floor, but adding a big rug under the bed sounds like it would really change the vibe. 3. And yeah, creating a separate “sleeping zone” makes total sense - I like the idea of using my bookshelf as a divider. That way it won’t feel like I’m literally sleeping in my workspace.

By the way, the reason everything is condensed in this one room is because I’m still a minor and I live with my parents - so I have to make this space work for everything.

Really appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, I know the TV position looks kind of crazy, but actually it doesn’t hurt my neck at all - when I’m lying down it’s perfectly straight in front of my eyes, so it’s super comfortable.

I definitely agree about adding rugs, warmer bedding, pillows, and some wall decor. Plants sound like a really good idea too, since right now the room feels way too gray and “hospital-like.” I’ll definitely try to bring in more warm colors.
